English music on 105.3

Speaking of stupidity ..The church no longer owns 105.3 :)
You're right. The church is just another business subsidiary. All in the name of God, I suppose.

But at least they know how to separate people from their money with a church. In radio, they hired terrible management that has absolutely no clue how to run a radio station. It's the most cheesy and lazy attempt at radio I've ever seen in this market. Horrible imaging and stolen logos from a company out of Mexico. It's what you typically see from time brokers/leases on KYND or KGBC. It's only a matter of time before the format musical chairs start up again or the station is leased out.

A "church" has never owned it. A pseudo-religious money changing organization has served as a proxy for Antonio Cesar Guel's interest in this translator and many others, but a church? Never.
Centro Cristiano De Vida Eterna is a church.

What ever The Pastor does out of church has nothing to do with what he does in Church. I have been to his church and got to say he does a great job in the Churchz

I don't know what form of "protestant" church this is, but this is false in just about every branch of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. A "pastor's" duties do not begin or end at the door of the church. There is a universal understanding at how church representatives are supposed to conduct themselves in public and private life. Being a law abiding citizen is, at the very least, expected from church owners. Not lying on FCC applications and not running translators without a 'parent' station would seem like the bare minimum responsibility for not just your ordinary citizen, but a church owner as well.... allegedly.

Second of all, I'm pretty sure the "church" name is or was on a lot of these applications. All I will say is that you need to follow the money. If his church members had any sense, they would begin to question where the money is going and how it's being used. A pastor's wage should always be humble. And humble wages will never come close to paying for FM translators, AM stations, equipment, and several properties around town.... allegedly. But of course "humble" is a relative term.

You guys are so stuck on the Church and on Hector G. Acting like a group of ladies in a Nail spa!
Who are you to question what a church is or a church does if his member choose to follow him and put the money up then power to them. What does cesar guel have to do with Centro? Nothing at all very different Groups.

It's summed up in Mark 12:13-17. Christians are supposed to respect the laws of whatever earthly government has jurisdiction over them.

The "church" that owns these things has submitted multiple fraudulent documents to the FCC. This is well documented in the case of one of their attempted Chicago hop-ins. They claimed they built out a hop site on the 50kW WSCR (AM) tower, among other locations. Unlike here, one of the local engineers called them out for it.

I have personally spoken with Guel about the Centro translators. At the time, he claimed to be acting as their "engineer."

He wanted to put two of them on the Senior Road Tower. He proposed installing a 2 bay non-directional antenna on the 1,400' platform, along with an equipment enclosure and two 2,000 watt transmitters. The plan was to combine both translators into the same antenna.

When I asked him how he planned to make the highly directional pattern one of the translators was licensed for work using a non-directional antenna, he didn't have an answer. He feigned ignorance and acted surprised that he would need one.

Never mind the fact that he wanted to install 2kW transmitters with virtually no line loss - the equipment cabinet would have been maybe 15' from the antenna.

Most of the chief engineers for the full-power stations at Senior Road interviewed him. Afterward, we decided he would be a huge PITA as a tenant and decided to turn him and Centro down.

We let them build their de facto class A FMs elsewhere.

Siriusly??? If it was Joel Olsteen pulling this BS it would make Fox News MSNBC and lefties CNN tonight! Please don't get your panties in a twist but the reality is that teachers "pastors" should be judged with greater strictness and ramifications. People watch their leaders, and they have expectations. As a leader, your entire lifestyle is under scrutiny. When you say Hector has nothing to do with Guel is like saying Osama Bin Laden and al-qaeda had nothing to do with 9/11 SMH. Before you even think about replying or arguing back make sure that you have your facts straight.

My tax dollars not being exempt should allow me to criticize and put shifty non-profits/churches under a microscope. I believe we should all pay our fair share, so I would be interested to know how this money was moved from church to business. Had the owners never used their church name on the application, then no issue at all. But because these are for-profit stations being operated by a non-profit church (or at least were at some point), then they are fair game. Have they used their tax exempt status to gain an unfair advantage over other applicants/competitors?
or a church does if his member choose to follow him and put the money up then power to them.
You have a point there. A fool and his money are always parted. But I think it's fair to ask what benefits is society seeing by not taxing "Centro"? Because so far, we've seen shady applications, translators with no feeding parent station, and a lot of interference to area stations. When 105.3 first came on, KAMA's HD feed would drop out near Buffalo Bayou Park.

Again, all allegedly.

It seems changes are coming soon, they’re now doing SELENA FM temporary. They’re saying in Spanish,

do you like Selena? Well now you can listen to Selena 24/7 without commercials without DJS and soon we will come with more power.

"...soon we will come with more power."
That's why I asked the question about the Winnie station moving in as a rimshot. Seems that something is afoot here. Could KTWL move closer? Before the translator days when it ran at full power it could be heard all over north Houston...

I love seeing this board back alive and drama back. It has been dead for a along time now. I have gotten calls for a few days now. No KXXF has not been sold. No KXXF is not in Winnie , Texas. The tower is to the east in Jefferson County Texas listed Beaumont. The studio is in Beaumont, Tx. where i am looking out the window right now at 80 - I 10. The only thing in Winnie is the Waffle House. No it can not move to Houston. Nice idea but we all looked at the mess years ago. KXXF is the old 104.9 KRTX Glaveston, Tx. where myself and even Mr. David Gow worked years back owner of 97.5 FM KFNC the original 97.5 KAYD Beaumont. It moved to Jefferson County so the other 104.9 Rosenberg, could come to Houston years back. Is the station going Spanish or anything like that this week? No, The only people myself and Elaine Walton have talked to is Christian broadcasters and nothing has ever became of it and it was not Spanish broadcasters. Anything els you want to know call me.Is the station being programmed from my house? Yes. What do you want to hear. It is the same music library on my internet radio station for 23 year Rock&Roll.FM Powered By The Orignal Angel Fire Radio® sister to 105.3 FREE KXXF FM105.3 FREE with Mark Landis doing the liners who he and I worked on the air together at the old 93Q KKBQ top years back . See all of us at http://www.93Q.FM. Last but not least . Rumors. Yes please send me 1 billion dollars to my email on the front of 105.3 FREE KXXF FM105.3 FREE on the bottom of the web page and I will get out of radio for good and go set at KVST in Conroe and look out the window at the water. LOL God bless everyone and stay safe. Dade Moore. Keep this board alive. It is a fun way to keep radio alive. Later people peace.

Hi Dade, The reason many refer to KXXF being in Winnie is because that's where the FCC states that it's located:
FCC = "KXXF TX Winnie USA" plus ...

KXXFFM479WINNIETX03/21/2014EXCEL MEDIA, L.L.C.

The tower might be a few miles east, but the apparent city of license is Waffle-House-Winnie.
Thanks for the input and insights.

No KXXF is not in Winnie , Texas.
Expanding on ThatVoice 22: Many stations have their transmitter outside the city they are licensed to.

For example, I do not think there is any Los Angeles FM that has a transmitter actually in LA. Where I worked in radio for several decades, San Juan, PR, I think there is only one AM and no FM that has its transmitter in that city... and so on across the nation.
