I was just about to say the same thing. While getting ANY credit these days is OK, it should go to APE on this one. 5 points awarded to APE. Wait...wrong message board ...no points here.

ape, you're right. the thread has gotten off point.

back to the subject, HD radio. although the marketing people decided to ride the coattails of the HDTV boom, they have nothing to do with each other.

I was 50 miles out of charlotte listening to 610 am's HD signal. although the fidelity was much better than am, it wasn't as good as i had hoped it would be. one of the infinity fm stations has them (wfnz) on their hd-3. i don't remember which one, and iBiquity's web site doesn't list it. the fm hd feed sounds much better IMO. also, in a fringe area, the constant blending from AM HD to analog is hard to listen to. i hear that hash on the adj channels everyone is talking about, too.

But HD FM seems to me to be a way for an operator to get another station. Right now it's certainly in its infancy, and with not many radios out there, it's not sellable. but fast forward a few years, when HD radios are standard in cars, the broadcaster will have 1 or 2 "new" stations for each FM. I wish this had happened before 1996 and Clinton signed the consolidation bill. Before then, a station was programmed to succeed, rather to flank the cluster's other stations. Off the subject again, I guess.

The biggest problem I'm having is the velcro strip won't stay attached to my dashboard. The control unit is probably dangling from the dash in my car right now.

With GM, Toyota, and Ford already having passed on offering HD radio as standard equipment, that might be a very long wait. After nearly 5 years, Volvo is the only taker. Fast forwarding a few years, it's more likely that HD radio will remembered much like FM quadrophonic, or AM stereo (which actually WAS a good idea). Just go to any big box store in town and try to find an HD radio for sale...

;D Whadda expect from $6 buck an hour kids, of course, I know some jocks that make 6 bucks!

HD radio sounds good. 100.3 has the best HD2 in the area. AM HD would only seem viable with a 50k signal. The weaker ones switch back and forth with interference, between analog, and digital. Sounds like crap.
