Entercom Indianapolis...

radiowrangler - that's a pretty significant rumor - sources?

Mouseman, you know how this business works. I would rather maintain my long term friendships than disclose my sources. Let's just call it a rumor for now and we'll all just wait and see what happens in the near future. When it happens I'll be the first one to comment. That's all I can give you for now.

While I appreciate several of your personal and private emails to me yesterday I wanted to go on the record and state that I am not part of a witch hunt. We as a radio community are somewhat tight and there are times when certain individuals need to be taken out back to the woodshed and set straight. FACT: Morale at the Indianapolis Entercom branch is at an all time low. Based on what I hear, I would prefer to be a season ticket holder with the Pacers than show up to work there everyday. This even goes back to the Mystar days. Here is the issue. MANAGEMENT! You have a GM who was taken out of radio retirement to run a radio station. You have a DSM who was brought out of a retirement home to focus on digital sales. The GM allows the DSM to put on her tiara and parade around the office disrespecting everyone on the staff. (Including the GM) I guess it would be an award like RESIDENT OF THE MONTH at a retirement home. For those of you who don't know, Entercom is a great company. That being said, great companies have to admit hiring errors and make adjustments accordingly. To be a good manager you have to take care of your staff and help them grow on all levels. To belittle your staff daily means that you are heading back to radio retirement. Like I stated yesterday, Entercom Executives are intelligent people and intelligent people don't want to see a mass exodus from a branch that certainly has a lot of potential. The Jenny Skjodt, "ostridge head in sand" approach will not work. I felt it compelling that not 1 person responded over the past two days with ANYTHING good to say about these two ladies. NOT 1. That really does say alot. I specifically remember a post that someone made in regards to Julie Reyburn. "Get in good with the prune, she's tight with Jenny Skjodt." People at Entercom despise Julie Reyburn and they scoff at the way she exploits her friendship with Jenny. It's almost as if Jenny has no clue or chooses to ignore it. Either way, that's not a GM that I would respect. Jenny needs to separate friendship from the whole working relationship or Mr. Doyle will be paying a visit very soon. Off the record, is it true that Julie Reyburn has been an AARP member since 1984?

I think every Entercom employee is reading this board, because I was told yesterday the place was giddy with excitement and anticipation to see Jenny and Old Yeller get escorted out the door. What a horrible work environment that must be....shame on Entercom.

From what I hear, Michael Doyle was actually in the offices pretty recently as was the new head of digital for the overall company. However, I'm not really sure what they accomplished since not long after they removed two of their local on-air talent from the air.

I have to agree with the low morale bit as well. I've heard virtually everyone there complain about how much they dread being in that office as of late (and the new construction has only made it that much worse). Some of the things I've heard that Ms. Reyburn has done and said to employees is honestly enough to have several lawsuits thrown her way. It's disgraceful that adults cannot go to work in a positive environment and be encouraged to do good. It's a shame that people are being so turned off to an intelligent and supportive company like Entercom because of these bad apples.

As for the new logo...has anyone else noticed that it's only in sporadic places? It's like it got leaked out and they thought, "hey we'll just leave it there and no one will notice." If you're going to change something as important as your icon you need to have a plan behind it's unveiling. Then again this is partially in the digital realm and we've all seen the planning that takes place there.

[Well it's about time she gets put out of the business for good

Ha! Paper Bill checking in from his new gig in Orlando. How are things down there in the Bible Belt? Just because she didn't agree with you that a format of all Swing Out Sister music would sell, there's no need to wish ill will.

Ha! I just call it as I see it! It is amazing how well I am doing in a bigger market with a GOOD GM!
Don't miss all the back stabbing woman at Entercom. I do miss some of the great salespeople, and Gill, Alex and Scott Roddy

Morale was bad when Hoover and Sands were running the place, too. As a matter of fact, ever since Entercom took over, it's been an unhappy place to work.

Morale wasn't as high as it could've been when Hoover was there, but until a few months before he left, he always did a pretty good job of reigning in most of the crap and doing things to boost the salespeople. He encouraged a fight where it was due, but would never have let a lot of what is happening now occur. Adjusting to new leadership/ownership is always a battle, but Skjodt has been there long enough that the cloud has had time to pass. Unfortunately, since she allows Reyburn to demean everyone that cloud is only growing larger and darker.

I wonder how the Management team of Steve Hartley, Jody Veldkamp and Bill Bokunic would do versus the current team of JS, JR and EW?

I would bet everything I own they sales numbers would be far beyond where they are today.

Bill, by asking that question you have nullified any relevancy regarding intelligence of your future posts.

Bet everything you have? Aren't you splitting that with someone else right now? I guess you meant you will bet 1/2 of everything you have. Simple mistake.

Wow, haven't had a topic like this on the R-I Indiana board since Ms. Skodjt was working for Oasis.

Does anybody know if the radio bigwigs read any of this kind of feedback/take it into account? I mean if there's this big of an outcry on a discussion board, you can only imagine what people who work there, but are afraid to lose their jobs are thinking/feeling, but fear actually saying.

Wow! All this anger directed at those two is really surprising. I had the chance to work them for many years and found them to be very good at what they do. More importantly, they're great people. Sorry not everyone had the same experience I did. I miss working with them.

Really? Your shocked? You said it yourself, you worked them for many years. It's different when you have to work FOR them. Here is some advice. THEY ARE HIRING! If this void of not working with them pains you that much, stop by and fill out an application while at the same time rekindling that long lost romance. Here is what GREAT people are about...compassion, loyalty, vision, knowledge, care, concern, strength, drive, etc, etc. The first one I've mentioned is enough to knock Jenny and Julie out of the GREAT category. (I think this post was by Jenny's daughter. She must miss that cakewalk internship job.) Nice try nonetheless...

Maybe a few read it, but no they don't take it into account. They know it is largely a haven for the bitter, unemployed, uninformed, and underachieving.

On a side note, Corporate have read these statements and by saying that.....Jenny and Julie, I would like to make a song request. Can you play, "You dropped a bomb on me" by The Gap Band?

All of this talk makes me wonder how they are doing number wise, both financially and ratings wise within the cluster. I heard that they were the #1 digital cluster in Entercom last year (with low traditional dollars), but numbers have taken a nose dive so far in 2011. If that's true, I wonder what's happened. Who's doing Reyburn's actual work now? Did she go down from a 4 day work week to a 3 day? Or are ratings so bad now that they just don't have anything to sell?

Well, I actually work on-air at WZPL and have for 5 years. Jenny is great and has done a ton for this cluster. In no way is the new studio a "spa". We are actually consolidating! The new PD is making the station great again and I love working here. Stop hiding behind user names and making assumptions. The old saying still holds true!!
