Entercom Indianapolis...

These are audience levels that can be successfully sold; the audience levels cannot be blamed for failure to make the financials work. That rests squarely on sales and management [including corp management].

I'm wondering just how the stations are doing in terms of sales. From what I've heard they were #1 in the company for digital last year, yet waaaayyy down in on-air...basically because all of the dollars and efforts were shifted (not much in the way of new revenue). However, this year sounds like it's been the lowest in a long time and digital is lagging to old numbers.

Anybody have any info or suggestions on a strategy?

Their local direct effort is minimal at best, so unless they are really working the agency side with good Aribtron numbers they are in trouble. If Erica is gone, they will take a step backwards since she was the only person involved with the business at the street level.

That isn't really too hopeful of an outlook. From what I've heard, EEW has stepped down and left the company. They do have a new business/direct business manager, Denene Stewart (I think), but I've heard she's only in 4 days a week and hasn't put up much in the direct numbers.

It is 1430 but after listening to Dennis Miller for awhile, I wouldn't blame anyone for being so confused that they couldn't get the calls correct! ;D

Denene Stewart here. I work all five days of the week and most weekends. Business at Entercom Indianapolis is up. Substantially. If you want specifics and care to talk business, feel free to call me tomorrow 218-2269. Or, you can continue to speculate how terrible business and life is for other people.

Actually Denene, speaking for myself, I really don't care how business is at Entercom Indianapolis but I am fascinated by the back and forth on here. Glad business is up for you though :)

Hahaha! LOL! The back and forth on this has been nothing short of insane. Honestly, I'm with you, I can't figure out why anyone would care why Entercom business is up or down. Or anything going on at Entercom. Unless they are competition or a disgruntled past employee.

I really couldn't agree more. I just feel bad when I see employees that are actually striving for the good of the team and are overlooked because they aren't in good with the bigwigs and are driven to other companies because of it. I see it now more than ever before. Then again I guess I should feel worse for the companies for hiring management that lets something like that happen to valuable talent (no matter the area of the business).

There is, of course, more than one school of thought when it comes to management. I have always believed that recognition of good work goes a long, long way. Knowing that criticism can be difficult to hear, at any level, I always made it a point to discuss what I liked with just as much emphasis as what we were trying to change. The one thing no manager can allow to fester and permeate is a bad attitude. Whether it's actual or perceived, it must be addressed before it spreads like a cancer.

There are are lot of "Type A" personalities in broadcasting, it's the nature of the beast. Radio is NOT a team sport it is the manifestation of your individual talent for the GOOD of the team. There is a difference. If your job is management in the programming department, you had damn well better be the biggest cheerleader for your staff or there is no point in having them. One of the biggest challenges to being on the air is that the direct feedback to how something sounds is usually slow in coming. That's what makes recognition and acknowledgement of talent so important. Sales has benchmarks to meet, success is a number. Ratings matter to programming but many times, the journey to get there is lost in a mountain of nonsense that has little to do with the end result.

I haven't seen a topic on this board get so heated & venomous since Russ Oasis left town. Good to see you haven't lost your spunk Indy!! Thanks for the free entertainment!

And the common link between Entercom and Oasis? Yup, one Jenny Skojdt.

If it were radioho leading the charge, I'd say that some people in Indy have it out for her personally.

I just checked and Jenny is NOT my Facebook friend AND we don't have any mutual friends. Guess that's good news. :D

So, should I send them my resume or not?

Sooooo should I send my MP3 to ZPL or not?

You're a little late to the dance classic1! LOL Might not hurt though on second thought. Some folks probably see this as an opportunity, I see it as a mess to steer clear from, at least for the moment. Was this cluster always a cluster "F" under MyStar or is this unique to Entercom?

I was looking at All Access today and thought huh that's funny. There was a piece about Sands, Hartley and Bukonic being out at Entercom Indianapolis, yet I've still not seen a thing about Erika Will (and it's been confirmed). Think they're trying to keep it under wraps that 4 SM's have either left or been fired since October of 2009?
