Do we really need 3 rock stations in San Francisco Bay?
Also does 102.1 needs 98.5 simulcast? 102.1 can be hear ok in the South Bay, just look at the San Jose PPM. What a waste of signal.
Who Knows? This might be temporary? It may not. They may simulcast it for awhile then create something new for 98.5? I remember when Threshold Broadcasting bought KLOC-920 back in 2001, 920 simulcasted KVIN-1390 for one year before flip flopping formats & call letters.
I would also wonder if this is a temporary move. Simulcasting on two Class B's within 55 miles of each other seems like overkill...there is A LOT of signal overlap there. KFOG's "translator", KFFG is only a Class A, which is appropriate as a secondary signal.
This will give Entercom & K-Fox
effectively the Bay Area's greatest FM signal coverage, considering the several translators KUFX already has (Santa Cruz, Morgan Hill, Pleasanton) plus the 2 Class B mains. I fail to see how an average classic rock station would be worthy of so many facilities, unless Entercom has big plans for this format.
