While, correct me if I'm wrong, the song has been out there for quite some time now (a lot of the mix show dj's on this forum can attest to having it in rotation long before now) getting exposure NOW on Sirius makes the song new and relevant in listeners ears. Maybe there is a version that some listeners will enjoy better- but if they hear this version and go out and discover a remix they like better, well, everyone in the dance community still wins. Along the way they will have listened to a number of other dance songs or remixes. Regardless, as a community we need to support (or at least not blast) what Joe Listener might stumble across and potentially enjoy even if it's not our cup of tea.

I'm also noticing that more hip hop songs are picking up the tempo. But a station with core artists of Timbaland and Kanye do not a dance station make. Stations like 'POW and 'PYO are not dance stations. A few token uptempo songs in rotation are not worthy of the title.
No, WPOW and WPYO are NOT not are likely to ever become pure dance stations, or even stations that play levels of dance music that they played in the past. Still, progress is progress, and if either station continued on as a straight ahead Rhythmic/CHR, then the one or two dance songs they play an hour is GREAT exposure for the dance genre. That's what it is going to take to hook the next generation of dance music junkies.
And again, it all comes down to "what is going to get the masses to appreciate the genre?" Sure, if we program stations to our own personal interests we're going to not spin a lot of bubblegum pop we don't care for, but the reality of it is that it's in our best interests to play those songs. Hip hop stations haven't ceased playing Kanye since his mainstream success. In fact, its liable to lead to listener frustration if they hear a Kanye song they like, but aren't able to hear it again on the hip hop station as would intuitively make sense.
Regarding the argument of the song being too similar to the former version, well, it's very much akin to a station squeezing additional airplay out of a dying song by switching to a remix after it slips. Let me ask you, do you plan on still spinning the former version in any time of heavy rotation? Reason I'm asking is that if the two songs were both CURRENT heavy rotation songs, then I see the argument, but IMHO a song that WAS heavy rotation in the past shouldn't affect a programming decision regarding a song with similar structure, but this might not apply to this particular situation as I'll elaborate in a second. I can cite many examples of major stations that have done this, however, if Energy isn't positioned towards picking up a mainstream audience, as you suggest, then I understand your position. Instead, consider this for your Club Phusion channel.
