Actually, as far as I'm concerned, the person who put Ernie and Jay together for a talk radio show had a stroke of genius. Had it been described to me before it was put on the air, I'd have said it was a bomb in the making.

Shows what I know. And they're on for hours! And they are amusing and informative and never the same old tired junk like many of the others seem to fall into.

Actually, with a bit of modification, I think that program could easily be network material.

Interestingly, though, I think they are all KRLD has going for it.

I like to hear the Ernie and Jay show from 10AM to 3PM weekdays. Ernie and Jay are a great team. I like the way they put out the issues local and national for the listeners to comment on. Ernie and Jay have done a great job on some local issues like the McKinney North High School issue, TXU coal power plants and TXU RATES and LIES!!!, Dallas Mayor Miller, and other issues. KRLD AM 1080 have a great show from 10AM to 3PM weekdays. The only problem is need more news all day. I like to hear the OLD KRLD AM 1080 like in the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. I liked the ALL NEWS ALL DAY!! The TEXAS RANGERS need to be on a sports radio channel not KRLD AM 1080!!! I hate a TEXAS Ranger game on a 5PM weekdays....we have no traffic reports on afternoon drive home.

Hmm Ratings...It appears Ernie and Jay have some "spinmeisters". Their show is about as exciting as freshly mowed grass.. Whenever The Rangers are on instead of them,its a blessing for KRLD. Jay's voice is close to shattering tupperware and their take on issues is simply "What did Mark davis talk about the day before?"

Nobody said anything about "ratings" in this thread. There's alot of reasons ratings might be might be lower than that of their competitors.

Jay has a fine voice. Have you heard some of the station imaging "voices" being used these days? It's about being real.

"It's about being Real"..a worn out phrase along the lines of "thinking out of the box".

No Orignality and Jay certainly isn't real. He is often along with Ernie listening to Mark ( on a tape delay I am sure at home) to see what Mark is chomping at the bit about,then they talk about it. Jay has a voice like I said that would shatter tupperware,and perhaps crack a showerhead if he sung while bathing. He was more suited in Las Vegas where the sound of the slots would drown him out. They are immitators not innovators,sp much for "real".
 
They both sound rooky and uninspiring. Their passion is so forced and fake. These two have as much credibility as the fan posts in this thread.
 
Ernie & Jay and the new hosts at KLIF are a sad reflection of what local DFW talk radio has come to. We get what they pay for.

I'd like to check out your talk shows...what time are they on? They must be real gems...surely I've heard of them.
 
Darn Ernie, Jay or staff member,apparently you can't stand the criticism. None too surprising.
 
Am not a radio station employee...of KRLD, KLIF, or anywhere else. I'm just one of those fans on this thread who apparently have no credibility.

That's OK, though...you made my point. :D

I'm not a huge fan of talk radio, but I have gotten sort of addicted to Ernie & Jay. Even if I'm not particularly interested in the topic, I still listen just for the entertainment value. Keep it up Ernie & Jay!

Um hello! While you've all been here talking has anyone bothered to check the ratings on Ernie and Jay? Their numbers are up...way up in the last two 4 trends. Why do you think Mark Davis is having to talk about local issues again? He's actually getting beat by these two in 35-64 in January and February and their pulling numbers better than KRLD has seen in years. So bad mouth 'em all you want but the goal of radio is to get numbers and they're well on their way.

I'm looking at the trends now and KRLD 10-3 is way down 25-54 and those are the money demos. The other CBS station KLUV is doing great in 35-64 too but 25-54 they suck. Ironically KLUV went up a bit 18-34 probably due to heavy contesting recently.
