It's great to finally hear Cowherd and Patrick locally. It's about time we FINALLY got a full time sports station.

When is KCTC going to update their website to reflect their new format, ESPN 1320? It is still "Sacramento's Left Channel" right now? www.kctc.com

wow. heckuva lineup. maintenance free radio. crap. Too bad Entercom didn't stick with the left wing talk. Does anybody know why the switch? Is it just the money thing?

The lineup is 100 times better than the Maloof Infomercial down the dial. And sports 24/7!!! See ... it can be done.

God, why does Sacramento need a sports station??? I liked it when Randi Rhodes was on there, but it seems that the owners want fascist-owned radio, instead.

"Fascist-owned radio"? Since when did the FCC grant a license to Benito Mussolini? You don't have to listen to sports radio, just knit yourself a hemp blanket while eating a granola bar.

He's a little bitter... maybe he lives outside of KSAC's menial coverage area, and is a bit on the disgruntled side. Check out his post on the S.F. Board.

Re: ESPN 1320 and Liberal Talk Radio (re: aeris)

Forgive "aeris." Obviously hasn't been the same since...well, you know. Riddle me this, though..."aeris"...if Mike Malloy is so "great", how come he drew fewer listeners than two Spanish FM stations; KGO (not even IN Sacramento) and virtually every other radio station in town?

Why -- if "lefty" talk is so great -- why did Sacto's two liberal - er, "progressive" talk stations COMBINED draw fewer listeners in the last year than 95% of the stations in the market? It cannot simply be because the signals are bad (which, in KCTC's case, not) or because there aren't any Democrats within the signal range. Could it be that -- with a few exceptions -- the programming just turned people off?

See, there's a rule about radio: even if people don't agree with what you're saying, they'll listen to you if you're interesting and entertaining. Constantly referring to "the Bush crime family" or calling your President a "murderer" -- whether it's true or it isn't (a point of personal taste) -- just gets old after a while.

Once someone comes up with entertaining left-wing radio, it will work. So far -- not so much.

I too like having a chance not to listen to KHTK for my sports fix. KNBR doesn't do it for me either... especially when they get their Giants infomercial rolling.

Think KCTC will pick up the A's or some other "local" sports to help them be more than a Bristol, Connecticut station? Or, any chance of local programming at some point soon?

KHTK just added weekend A's games, which they've not had on for a couple of years.

Seems the only non-ESPN programming (I've heard) on ESPN-1320 is "Costas On The Radio," which I think is on Saturdays from Noon. It's actually a pretty good listen most of the time.

Hmmmmm....Isn't that interesting? ESPN Radio comes to town with Sunday Night Baseball, and KHTK brings back A's weekend-only baseball. A little reactionary? I can't wait for the A's/Devil Rays or A's/KC Royals games on the radio. That is, unless they're pre-empted by Kings or Monarchs basketball due to the iron-clad Maloof Sports and Entertainment agreement...

I hope I'm not too far off-topic here, but jvparent is right on target with that one. In fact, when I ran Tom Leykis' board at the so-called "fascist" 650 when we called it "Talk 650 KST" during the Kohl/Cox era 10 years ago, there was one day in particular when Tom had me laughing so hard, I darned near peed my pants right there at the KSTE control board. Tom and I came down on opposite sides of the fence on almost everything at the time, but the guy was VERY entertaining, and I told him so when he broadcast from the 650 studios. Unfortunately, he pulled himself off of 650, and I haven't heard him since. He is as friendly and down-to-earth as they come, and I would consider him a friend if I could work with him again now, if he's even on the air anymore. I listened to Tom as often as I could and almost wish he was on SOME Sac station now. I even used to listen to him at the onset of the '90s before he went national: KFI used to re-air his PM drive show on overnights in '90.
