ESPN 680 - Louisville

I am pretty sure he was talking about the Louisville one. I listen to his show religiously and I am sure he was in Louisville when doing that show. Hank 96.1 is a good station for LM :)

I'm glad to see that ESPN 680 is doing so well competing with CC's 790. I wonder what the new signal will be that Drew mentioned? 680 has a really good signal when they don't have the audio problems that they seem to have a lot of. Maybe a purchase of an FM station is in the works?
Also wanted to mention that things have gone the other way for 680 too. Lloyd Spence left 680 and now does 12 Noon-2 PM Monday-Friday on WNDA 1570. I enjoyed his Saturday morning show on 680 (in fact it's still listed on 680's website!) Its good to hear Lloyd every weekday.

Not a lot of obvious candidates to pick up an FM, unless they buy or LMA one of the stations Cox selling off. 103.9 is their smallest signal, and would be the prime candidate.

It would be great if they were able to get 103.9. However, I think they have a better chance of purchasing either 94.7 or 105.9.

They might be going to increase 680's power by paying 680 in Corbin to modifying their pattern or buying and shutting it down. Another option is buying or leasing one of the WLGX translators or the 102.7 translator.

Purchasing 680 in Corbin or having them modifying the pattern will offer nothing. Keep in mind there will always be a night time null to the southeast because of WPTF Raleigh. There wouldn't be much gained in the daytime so it wouldn't be worth the effort.

A couple of things:
1. I see people alluding to ESPN 680 trying to lease or buy one of Cox/Summit's stations. That's interesting, but with spoken word getting hot, what do you think the chances are of Cox/Summit just flipping a station to sports and running it themselves? Unless they think 680 is going to buy or LMA another signal, maybe?

2. If Matt Jones is saying they're flipping a station and we are to believe him, would he be a part of such a flip?

They are not buying anything. Drew should of stayed at 790, unless he was going to be a budget cut and saw
the handwriting on the wall. 680 won't pony up the money. They will stay on 680, unless,
they sell their little stick to someone like Summit. Then Summit can decide if they want to put sports on FM.
Looking northeast to Cincinnati and watching 100.3 The Fan, forget it. Bad investment.

680 has been off the air most of the day today. What happened now? It seems like there's always something going wrong with their station.
I guess there will be no Cincinnati Reds for me tonight

Any word on what was wrong? They used to have a clear, strong signal all over the metro. Not so much anymore.
