margin is 25%. Not much they can do except lower game costs or let another network
carry them.
Maybe they just have too many ESPNs and need to downsize.

When the Pay TV providers start permitting ala carte subscriptions, then I might return. As a pay TV subscriber for years, I could never access "ESPN3" because my ISP was not on the cable channel's approved list of ISP's.

ABSOLUTELY---a lot of folks, myself included, have little or no use for TV sports...why force us to pay for it. Put it on a Sports tier and charge accordingly to the sports fans.
dhett said:Never happen. If non-sports fans were be allowed to opt out, the cost spread among the remaining subscribers would be so high, they'd lose a lot of sports fans, too.

And then the rights fees fall. You're right, won't happen. Gotta pay the Manning brothers their fair share.

Are you sure there's no sports in the package. I remember when I had DirecTV 'til 10 years ago, I didn't have any sports package, but ESPN 1 & 2 were in the most basic package. If that's the case today, you're paying for ESPN, whether you watch it or not).
