ESPN radio Hartford changing formats?

Nah, I’m good. I’d rather pay Lance $5/month for info than infect my computer/phone with viruses from a sketchy site because ‘I’m too cheap and selfish.’
Yep.

I subscribe to a bunch of Netflix and friends streaming services. Every time I think about canceling one, I find something I really want to see. Until it breaks my budget, I keep them.

But, with the increase in Disney's rates, that one is going away as over half of that seems to be for ESPN which I never watch and never have watched.
(And to second Lance’s comment, it’s comments like yours that ruin a service for everybody.)
While harsh, I agree.

With some paywalls you can go to xxxxxx, paste the link and remove them, not RadioInsight's though.
Moderator: I was questioning deleting this post as encouragement for an unethical practice. But then I thought "let me comment instead".

Sites like Lance's provide valuable information. Encouraging the theft of a service that is Lance's occupation and for which he spends time and money is reprehensible and encourages theft.

Please do not do this again, or you will be banned. Period.

Edited to remove the link. Warning: Any further suggestion on stealing a paid service will result in your permanent ban. THIS IS ILLEGAL.

I'm going to assume that there is nothing of truth to this story since it was only reported by one source and there has been nothing new since.

Ignore Lance's scoops at your own peril. If you see smoke on RadioInsight, expect fire to follow. I'm still watching for publicly announced news and assuming nothing. My hunch is that ESPN will be kicked to the curb in favor of an iHeart-syndicated alternative, Fox Sports Radio. An iHeart station running ESPN Radio always seemed odd to me.

I would assume that there would be other leaks by now is there was something here. You can't keep something like this quiet.

LOL Spoken like someone whos n ever read Lances stuff

I've paid for his site for a few years now, and when he posts potential format changes or other juicy news... hes at bare minimum on 3rd base, if not already on his way to homeplate and about to make a home run

Plus, where else are you going to see this? AllAccess doesnt cover radio news either, fybush.com sometimes cover format changes if theres concrete evidence coming and insideradio.com doesnt really cover this kinda thing.

So what station will fill the sports talk vacuum in Hartford if they flip ESPN Radio.

I dont remember what the article says and if its behind a paywall, im not spilling the beans.

So if the news is that big why has it not been reported elsewhere.

umm.. where else are you gonna see it reported? I stated that above.

and a format change in HARTFORD is not that big of news to anyone outside.. Hartford, for the most part

Because other publications tend to not have the connections/sources Lance has.
And because mainstream media in cities like Hartford don't have anyone covering the radio beat, or enough general assignment reporters to take someone away from crime and politics to check out a rumor about a radio station with few listeners. If WUCS changes format, that may get a story. Flipping from ESPN to Fox for national sports talk (itself a ratings killer on any sports station with local content in other day parts) would likely get nothing, as it's only of interest to people in the industry and radio geeks.

What would WUCS gain in switching formats, be it another sports talk or something else. Their signal is not going to change. The market is not going to change.

That's why I'm leaning toward an ESPN/Fox switch. IHeart isn't going to put right-wing talker WPOP on 97.9, there's no musical format hole screaming to be filled, and niche sub-formats like classic hip-hop and classic country wouldn't attract enough advertising to matter.

Would Fox Sports radio have enough better programming vs ESPN Radio.

Doesn't matter. The ESPN talk programming is filler, with much of the advertising revenue going not to WUCS but to iHeart. What WUCS has to sell is Rob Dibble in PM drive and its various play-by-play properties.

ESPN is alot more demanding of affiliates,. iirc.. on how much of the network they have to carry and etc
