ESPN Radio on 104.5 FM Maybe?

It wouldn't surprise me if Julius did call WIP to ask about another radio station's format. I thought Julius wasn't allowed to use the telephone? If he did call WIP, I wonder why he will call a WIP talk show but refuses to call the Radio Racket program?

I'm allowed to use the phone. I have called in to radio shows here like Prism on WHAT-AM. I may think about calling the Radio Racket Friday. MODS. I ask that this thread be DELETED NOW. Thanks

I just want to be able to hear the games on the radio on a clear signal, and I want the radio stations to carry every game local and national, and not skip it and promote the games, that's all I want.

Julius, everbody knows this. You don't need to keep repeating it.
As a listener you are entitled to complain about what you don't like. Post your complaint and let it go.
Consider you complaint about play by play sports to have been made.

If more people were interested in play by play broadcasts on the radio, things would be different. Not many people share your interest in hearing ballgames on the radio. Sorry, you've been out-voted.

It's too late Julius, I just got inside word that RI is changing their web site format to an all women's lib blog site. Since you started this thread, you have drained all the bandwidth that was needed for more impotant messages and topics. Now there considering closing other market franchises like Iowa radio, community radio,and Upstate New York board where people in the radio business no longer can discuss their market or hobbies, all because of a station on 920 AM that won't promote Quaker's football.
You should be a ashamed of yourself, and I have the feeling that other postees from here and other markets will never forgive you for this. Now in a few days when the changeover comes, the only people that we will be only aloud to converse with are angry obesed women. And that's not fun. Radio -info will change it's web site format in a few days from Radio-info.com to Women's Rights Info .com thanks to Julius. It's a sad day for all of us now.

What Julius also fails to acknowldge is that WPHY-920 is heavily directional due to co-channel and adjacent channel stations it needs to protect. One of the co channels it protects is the 920 in Providence, WHJJ. Shawn O'Domski mentioned earlier in this thread about one of the stations I work at, WNWR, being a daytimer.They leave the air at sunset to protect KXEL Waterloo, IA, also on 1540. And yes, WVCH DID air Penn football for awhile.

I seem to remember that WPGR (predecessor oof WNWR) started running 24/7, 500 watts after sunset, during the last couple of years, that they were around....Not that I would be inclined to listen to WNWR, but why did this stop???

Yes Julius, I called and did research on why the games you want will not be carried on ESPN radio or any local Philly station. The management has decided to carry the Philadelphia La Crosse team and also decided to do all play by play tennis for the professional Philadelphia tennis team. And far as I know, they are already discussing plans to carry all the Philadelphia Phantoms and Hershey Bear's scheduled hockey games along with the Philly professional indoor soccer team which will have conflict not just on ESPN AM 920 but these games will be spread out among the other stations like 560 AM, 990 AM, 104.5 FM, 1260 AM, and 950 PEN. So that means there going to have very little Penn Quakers play by play. I was very concerned too about the Penn Quakers myself so i called around the contacts of these stations and they explained to me the reason why. Their research shows that their audience listens to these games more then the Quakers. I'm very upset about this too, It's a bummer for both of us. I'm pissed as much as you are, but that's how radio goes.




Im gonna go out to my tower site and crank the transmitter up to full power. When the FCC comes by Im gonna say that Julius says its ok. I think all stations should crank their wattage up. We could all be clear channels too. WOW how great would that be?

Let's get back to the topic. The problem is that 920 AM has a very bad signal in Philadelphia, Nassau needs to do something about it so the station can be better heard in Philadelphia and the entire Delaware valley day and night. I think as listeners, we need to complain to Nassau and WPHY and tell them they need to fix their signal or move to another dial setting . This whole play by play sports problem in Philly can be solved if We complain to Nassau and get a better signal for ESPN Radio in Philadelphia. We should be thankful for ESPN 920 AM for broadcasting play by play games that the Philly AM/FM stations skip or don't air at all but we need to be able to hear them in the city loud and clear. I don't know what's discussed on the show, because I don't listen. I am only familiar of the topics based on what the show's panel posts here and elsewhere.

Again Shawn, I implore you to listen to the show. It's definitely not what you think it is. Yes, we like Julius. He is a well-intentioned young man who has never hurt anyone. He sends us a commentary every week, and I read it on the show, then we discuss it for 10-15 minutes. Other than that little segment, Julius isn't a "topic" on the program.
While I understand that his posts are often monotonous, some might say that your posts are as well. All you seem to do is complain about his posts and degrade him. That also fits the definition of monotony...
You also know that he has limitations, which in my mind should buy him a little more leeway than others.
