Ex-radio host Neil Rogers suffers heart attack and stroke

Sad to see that, There will never be a radio person like him ever again

Let's hope that Neil pulls through. And despite his vow never to work in radio again, let's hope that Neil grants some of us our wish and re-joins the South Florida airwaves.

Terrible news! Love Neil. Hope he pulls through.

Wonder if Jorge will be giving any details on SoFlo or if they even still talk.

Neil always took a lot of crap from old people, so it's only fair that he have a chance to be one for as long as he can. As much as he's missed on the air, he would be missed a thousandfold if he signed off now.

Good luck, be strong and get better, sir.

Neil is, as great a radio personality that any station could enjoy having in their employ, Neil always treated me and other Miami radio talents and our circle of friends in Miami radio with the utmost respect, and regardless to some others and their misconceived misgivings about Neil, Neil is one hellava nice guy on or off air and one can't take that away from him.

I haven't seen any recent updates on his situation, and although I haven't talked to Neil in years I wish him all the best and a get well soon.....

Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful post about Neil.....

At this point, let us hope that Neil is not in pain. I hope that several of Neil's former employers are permitted to run programming that would serve as a tribute to Neil. Some "best of" shows and/or bits would be a nice way for his audience to hear Neil, and his wit, one last time.

Hospice. Dammit. I can only say I agree with the sentiments expressed above. It's been an amazing ride through some interesting decades.

So sad to read this. Neil Rogers is one of my all-time favorite radio people. Just so fast and smart and funny. I hope his time with hospice is peaceful.

Neil God was the best radio talk show host in history. Bar none. Thankfully he got to leave with money and spend some time doing what he wanted to do. Although that time was all too short.
Anyone with airchecks needs to share! Love to hear past Neil over and over again.

He may not deserve any mention at all...but I wanted to say how disappointed I was to hear Jorge Rodriguez seriously ragging on Neil on his web show Friday and again today. I waited through what I thought must be a bit. Sadly, no.

I'd only say this to the ******y Rodriguez: it's not all about you, especially now.

I met Neil Rogers once while he was working at WNWS. I must say given his on air persona I thought when I told him the radio station I worked for that he would rip me a new one. Nothing could be further from the truth. He knew all about the station and said some nice things. It was very nice meeting him and not at all like I expected.

Hang in there Neil, hope you get to enjoy that pile of money you made.

Jorge didn't rag on Neil. He simply stated the truth about Neil's gluttonous behavior. As Jorge stated, "Neil would eat fried sugar."

Speaking of insignificant, Jorge Rodriguez is still around? Oh wait, he's on the "Internet Radio".

Ridicule internet radio all you want. It it the future...NO...it is NOW. The internet is where people are receiving the latest news, music and entertainment. Of course you know that; otherwise, why would you be here?

Thanks for calling.

If Jorge was really ridiculing Neil - especially in light of recent revelations about Neil's health - then shame on Jorge. Jorge would not have any following without Neil. In addition, much of Jorge's radio persona is based on Neil's act. From what I understand, Jorge still does Neil-like poll questions on his Internet show.

Jorge has never been given enough credit for his contributions to Neil's show. Jorge is a real talent; it's hard to be a sidekick to someone as strong as Neil, but Jorge did a great job.
