Fall 2018 - What shows are you looking forward to?

"Cool Kids" was much funnier than I anticipated but I wonder what kind of future it has. Don't see the younger set watching it and us oldies don't seem to matter.

"Last Man Standing" was.....uh, different but I liked all the inside humor. Political jokes don't bother me. Missed the old Mandy and the younger Boyd.

Cool Kids is being compared to The Golden Girls, which not only became a huge hit, but later a cultural phenomenon. My daughter - who was a toddler and young child when GG was in first run - became obsessed with the show in reruns during the 2000's (aughts), when she was an adult. Her other rerun obsession as an adult was Murder She Wrote, starring the elderly Angela Lansbury, so I'm not sure that shows about old people necessarily attract only older audiences.
 
I didn't think Cool Kids was all that good, but though that LMS nailed its return. The H50 episode, which worked hard to pay tribute to the original episode dealing with the sensory deprivation technology was amazing and Blue Bloods had a very solid opener.
 
With few exceptions, I don't watch many new shows, especially sitcoms.
In my opinion, they are usually just poor imitations of shows in the past.
At 56, I'd rather watch MeTv, Decades, Heroes and Icons, etc, etc, than
most of the major network offerings...............

I lived in AZ from 1990 to 2004, so I have read your posts for a long time. All of this time I thought you were my father's age (81). I was shocked to read that I am 1 year older than you!

I thought the same thing, but surely young people can laugh at these hip seniors.

It was great to see Jamie Farr. I knew him for some reason but didn't know why until I saw the credits.

It was great, especially with all the jokes about the show being cancelled. And the political jokes.

I liked the old Mandy better but her writing was good. The new actress didn't quite have the other girl's talent.

I don't watch it but you can check the appropriate network website to see if it is streamed. Many shows are doing that now - usually a day or two after it appears on the network.

Racial tension is the point. I haven't seen it yet but I watched "New Girl" and didn't really care for Schmidt, and yet he is a reason to watch. Beth Behrs was the best thing about "2 Broke Girls". Well, that and the nasty sexual comments by Kat Dennings. Cedric the Entertainer should be entertaining.
 
2nd episode of "Last Man Standing" seemed empty and way too serious (death of Mike's father and missing Eve, old Mandy and old Boyd). Seemed like an entirely new and different show. I was hoping for a good reboot of the old show but this isn't it. I will give it another shot next week but that is likely the last one. And what did the producers have in mind for Kristen's costume? Her hairdo and clothing suggested she had suddenly aged to her mid-40's instead of playing one of Mike's young daughters.

Last week we (wife and I) stayed around for "Cool Kids" which we both thought was very funny. This week? Not so much. Might give it one more chance but it doesn't look promising.

I agree about "Last Man Standing". It doesn't even seem like the same show.

"Cool Kids" was still funny in my opinion.
 
LMS explored serious things in its ABC run and the show needed to resolve what happened to Mike's dad. I thought it did well. I watched 'Cool Kids' again as well. Still just all right. I may decamp to ABC next week for that 1/2 hour.

I can watch both. I record everything. In fact, I have "MacGyver" and "Dynasty" recording.

I plan to watch both. I haven't watched either yet. However, I did hear on the "radio" that Roseanne died from her drug problem. Opioids are in the news these days. I was worried she'd die from the surgery.

We should probably clarify that the real life Roseanne is still among the living, but that the fictional Rosenanne Connor, died of opioid abuse.

It was quite good if we had to lose Roseanne the character. I was afraid it would be too sad but they managed to make it really funny.
