The rumor about KZNM flipping was posted on this board about a month ago, and I had heard the exact same thing a couple or three days earlier from a friend of mine. I'm pretty sure I know who posted the rumor on this board, and he has ties to AGM and likely still associates with people in the building. Does that mean it's credible? I don't know. The fact that I've heard it from two different sources means there's definitely been some talk of it, but there's also talk of a lot of things that never happen. It definitely makes sense as KZNM effectively does nothing, and it hasn't done anything since signing on. It has very few listeners, and almost all those listeners are in a demo that has zero appeal to advertisers. As for other New Mexico radio rumors, the only other one I've heard is that Mega 104.1 is toast.

KSFQ can be heard in Albuquerque north of downtown on a good car radio. So, it can be heard in town, but not well enough to be competitive. As for whether or not there are enough listeners to support two smooth jazz stations, I would say there aren't. However, KSFQ won't be an Albuquerque station for all practical purposes, and it never will be unless some major allocation changes are made.

Ratings-wise, yes, it fared significantly better, though "The Beat" could improve in that category as time goes on, and smooth jazz had its own problems at times. Whether or not it played better with advertisers as a smooth jazz station is what matters, and that has yet to be determined.
