Nothing really new in Fall ratings...Magic jumps a nice chunk to a very strong 3rd, WYLD falls but remains second...L AM up, NOE down, B steady, both rockers up (Bayou leads), L FM and RNO basically flat. Diva and KKND still both below WYLD-AM. Mikey's jukebox down a LOT.

Mix over B? Are you kidding me? B does have alot of repeats but ALL CHR's do.

Until the people that run Citadel decide that they want to turn their signals into "real radio stations", they are doomed to fail. I believe that Mix 92.3's music is significantly better than when they were Diva and much more Male palatable, but they should have gone out and got some air talent that knows how to entertain. Their morning show is terrible. No marketing or promotion. Just another station slapped together. Mix will peak at a 2 and then drop back down again. If it were just about the music, we'd all have Ipods.

the signal? 92.3 reaches into Baton Rouge with the cheapest of radios just like 104.1. The last time I was in New Orealns it was the same thing. No problem. when I say 92.3 will rise up its because of the music. Not the morning show or any dj's. Its 2007 radio doesnt need dj's anymore. My wife is in the target demo of the two stations..mix and B. she likes Mix better. She also complains about the afternoon show on B. they talk to much she says. as for the morning show. I wouldnt know. I dont get up till noon everyday ;D
The music is better on Mix and the signal is huge. Unfortunately, both of those will only get you so far.
I think Citadel could have done better with Mix, Wolf and True Oldies than taking the cheap way out. But, when your stock is at less than $2 a share and the radio dollars in New Orleans aren't flowing like they did before the storm, I guess it's easier than committing money to doing things right.

Mix 92.3 is better than most of the a/c formats it has tried in the past 10 years but yes it does need tweaking espcially in mornings to make it better. The morning show still acts like it's Diva with new music.. all things of Diva need to go sorry.

It's true. The afternoon show is a joke. My wife stopped on B97 one day last week in the car when she heard a song she liked. The song ended and that afternoon show came on with them talking about their baby. Listening closely, there is a noise in the background. He lowers the volume of the talk bed to reveal-- the woman is pumping breast milk ON THE AIR!!! He asked and she denied, quickly turning the machine off. And to put the icing on it, he kept making comments about how he could'nt do the show anymore because all he wanted was a big cup of milk! And this is entertainment?? So this what they do all the time?? Nothing else?? It's not worth the wasted time. I told her to turn that trash off!
ANd yes B97 and Magic have their heritage. A few others do to! And in my opinion there is nothing more to favor than a station with a heritage. But when the big wigs and personalities could give a damn because i.e.: its not their city blah blah blah, no one cares blah blah blah. Then why should we care? Why support garbage? Some have said nothing will ever change until we voice up. We can voice up all we want. It isn't going to do any good. It has yet to do that now!
So, if they all are not very good, I'm going to choose what I think is the better of the two. And as far as music goes, Mix has them beat right now. As far as personalities go, Mix is a better alternative.

yes, you guys are right. mix is awesome! totally ground breaking! lmao. why then has that station flipped about four times in six years. isn't consistency the way to grow? what i meant by signal of 92.3 was it can't really penetrate offices where the big 9a-5p office crowd is. yes, it can go to br but have you tried picking it up on the coast? no so much.....

-1041 should be off the air. thats not new rock. thats recurrents with 8 newbies a day thrown in by cyberjocked djs from florida.
-magic has the office crowd locked up. no doubt! good variety too. steve suter is a great guy and gets me by just about each day.
-q93 has their audience. yeppers!
-so does 98 wyld.
-noe is another i listen to. 1067 would fit in better if it wasnt sped up with a non relateable name to new orleanians like wolf. ????what is that????
-b97 is a heritage station.......that lost its heritage when ez communications decided to flip it talk. i will agree with smashedcd. its not the same and it never will be. sorry........ if it was a true top 40 chr it would have more energy or a jingle package or a good voice guy etc. but most importantly an entertaining show in the afternoon! it hardly has any of those! ive heard smaller market top 40 chrs sound better like major market stations! its wimpier than ever before.

thats my point on B97. they lost their heritage in 1993 (?) when they flipped to chr days/ alt rock nights? what was that all about? than with the ratings completely down went hot talk days/ alt rock nights. then that flopped and they went AC as B97fm. Than hot AC as B97FM. than CHR as B97FM. Then rhythmic CHR and finally Maintsteam CHR as it is now. B97 died sometime in 1993 or 94. When I was younger I would listen to it over WRNO. Especially when WRNO was playing Adult Top 40. B97 was wayyyy better back than. now its just some lame rap station with some Rock thrown in every now and than.

Mix can't pull people from any of the stations you mentioned except for 104.1. Seriously, what Oldies listener or 102.9 listeners of News/Talk 99.5 listener is now going to become a 92.3 listener. My point was that there are no listeners for them to steal. The gap is closed.

Mix will pull some men from 104.1 and Bayou and some 18-34 women, but, as you said, they'll go up a little in the book and then fall back down. The Citadel stations are doomed to underperform.
As much as I would like Mix to succeed (I think it's got the adult top 40 sound down pat), history doesn't work in its favor. 105.3 The Zone didn't last. The adult top 40 format of 104.1 Kiss FM didn't last.
I'd say they need a better morning show, but I don't listen to the station for any of the personalities anyway, so who cares? If I want personality, I'll listen to talk radio.

RNO is all Hannity except for Andre and the worst PM Drive show in the history of Talk Radio, Garey and Anthony (and why weren't they fired???) The only personalities RNO has are Gerry V and Laurin Goudin.
WIST is all syndicated except for Eric Asher and Kaare Johnson. Neither has any business being on Talk Radio and neither could get another job in radio if they got fired.
