Fantastic word game

Stuck behind the bar on "Cheers," Nicholas Colasanto led up to that gig by directing tons of great 1970s TV shows like "Hawaii Five-O," "McCloud," "Bonanza," "Toma" ("Toma"! ;D), "Columbo," "S.W.A.T.," "CHiPs," and "Starsky and Hutch."

Has a cable network started up that runs only '70s action dramas / Quinn Martin Productions? Man, I'd be all over that. Just watching Cannon get pistol-whipped again and using that clunky '70s car phone would make my day...

Movie and book rights to the Olivia-Newton John story are being optioned even as we speak.

Hey raptus, I had the EXACT same thought last night. I was watching a really bad movie from the 80's (Miracle Mile) and I thought that instead of a History channel and a Discovery Channel and a Sci-Fi channel which all stray from their focus and agenda, why not have a 70's channel and an 80's channel, and a 60's channel, and so on? Show movies and tv shows and specials from that decade or even ones that are set in that time period. In between you could even fill with music clips and/or videos from the artists of that decade. I would sign up for that in a heat beat. Anyone else?

The British Open is used to avoid confusion with the Mozambique Open, which is properly titled the Mozambique Golf Classic and Goat Show.

Mozambique Golf Classic and Goat Show is probably that round of golf that results in the winner getting a goat; whether that goat is an animal or a GTO we do not know.

We do not know who caused the 9/11 attacks, but it could be Al Qaeda.

-crainbebo

Al Qaeda really should settle on one spelling for their nefarious organization, at least to make it easier for news organization copy editors and their own p.r. news release writers.

You know what is going on only by paying close attention and parsing every word and action that proceeds forth from them.

Recipe for Pork Chops Jardinier:

4 Pork Chops
Dash of Pepper
Lima Beans (fresh or frozen, but the equivalent of a box of fresh frozen)
1/2 C fresh chopped tomatoes
Cream of Mushroom, as follows:

Chop some regular white mushrooms - about a pound
Add 2 TBSP minced shallots
2 C heavy cream
1-1/2 C chicken stock
1 tsp corn starch dissolved in a TBSP of water
1 tsp thyme (if fresh, chop it and add another tsp or so)
1 TBSP butter (salted or unsalted, but if you want salt later you can add it if you use unsalted)
Another dash of pepper

Lightly saute shallots in butter and add mushrooms and thyme.  Add cream and chicken stock, then cornstarch mixture a little at a time, stirring constantly for about 15 minutes.  If you want, add a little bit of a bay leaf.
In lieu of the above, you can use a can of cream of mushroom soup.

Continuing with the Pork Chops Jardiniere:

Brown Pork Chops, pour off fat and add your cream of mushroom mixture (whatever way you decide to make the sauce or soup), as well as about 1/8 C of water (or for a little added flavor, 1/8 C white cooking wine) and some pepper.  Cover and simmer for half an hour - LOW HEAT THANK YOU.  Add lima beans and tomatoes and bake for 20-30 minutes.

What a delightful little dinner you will have with a small salad appetizer and a glass of beaujolais, sauvignon blanc or chardonnay

Innovation will also be down, as I will have to continually respond to my own clues, if the TFWG staff and faculty keep going to bed so early.

Dang. What, do yall all have, like, jobs or something?

Early to bed and early to rise makes for not much of a social life but at least you will always get to work on time assuming that you still have a job and have not been replaced by automation.

...Yes, I'm still here. Just been laying low for a while.

Automation is all the rage in today's business and industry, and at the TFWG we do things the old-fashioned way.

We errrrrrnnnn it.
And our human touch is what keeps us ahead of the game.
Basnya, others, come on, we need to work smart, not hard, all the way up to Page 1000 and into the annals of history.

The old-fashioned way of doing radio included cueing up records, recording onto reel-to-reel tapes, picking songs from color-coded index cards, and dubbing commercials to carts.
