Fantastic word game

Friday a week ago was when I hit the road for the mystical land of Pendleton.

And I am still here, too, burning up unused vacation days left over from last year! Fellow Vancouverites (whomever thou might be), please don't expect me to be back in town until early next week, as it is thunder-and-lightning right now, and seeing lightning hitting the Blue Mountains past some ten or twelve miles of prairie away from the hotel is truly a unique sight. You certainly never see something like that on my side of the Cascades. ;o)

The mystical land of Pendleton is where adorable little elves weave wonderful multi-colored blankets.

Multi-colored blankets made by Indians are also absolutely beautiful, whether peruvians who weave them and stitch them into chinchilla throws, American Indians, Ecuadoran - no matter, as they are functional and lovely as well.

Functional and lovely as well is how I describe a particular slot machine I played at the casino this afternoon.

And won $1000 at first time around! Ultimately I lost $300 of it at the Blackjack table, but oh well. I can't win at everything I play at the casino. Maybe with my remaining $700 I might be able to afford at least half a tank of gas to get back home with (this is Oregon, so it figures.)

I am returning to the casino and try to win my $300 back to-morrow. Wish me luck.....

At the casino this afternoon I was run over my a roving band of little old ladies headed for the slots.

The slots are the indentations on the side panels of my laptop, where I insert my floppy disks and PCMCIA cartridges.

(Yes, seriously. And of the two PCMCIA slots, an 8GB Compact Flash cartridge is plugged in to one of them at least 90% of the time.)

Floppy disks and PCMCIA cartridges are things I try to avoid dealing with because, more than likely, I'd cause something to crash and I just hate having to start all over again.

I'd cause something to crash and I just hate having to start all over again, and then Raptus would NOT be too happy with me at all...

(Hey, Raptus - I think I KNOW who you're talkin about... ;) :-* :-* :-* )

Such exemplary work will one day be recognized by the international internet community but until then we will just have to keep plugging along in relative obscurity.

Relative obscurity is where TFWG started 3 1/2 years ago until Olivia Newton-John started headlining the FanFests and I became Game Czar.

Sorry, just couldn't resist. :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D

Vacation policies are pretty loose around here, but I remember one time when WMC exited himself from the game so we all just muddled along in a profound state of czarlessness.

I think I stepped up for a day or two, but my inherent laziness and aversion to working weekends doomed my tenure from the start. Plus there was all that paperwork...

A profound state of czarlessness usually ends in chaos, lawlessness, and way too many ON-J posts.

(I read today that On-J appeared on Glee, a program I have never seen but I wonder if some here caught it.)

Every day there is another example of nere do well stuff at the nasty little band camp up the road, like using other people's 20+ year old prize movie tickets identification, people's initials in artists, pictures of artists, mixing them all together for fake identification to win and split nominal sums of money with friends.

Enemies, in general usage, are considered to be those who are not one's allies.

(Exempli gratia, Ibiquity to a EU147 user, or Bill Gate$ to a follower of Torvaldian and/or Stallmanic philosophy.)
