Fantastic word game

Xylographers make woodcut pictures involving Yoda, yodelling, yo-yos and yoghurt.

[size=8pt]Ahh, but wait till you see what I've got saved up for the "Z"'s....... :eek:O

Yummy brussels sprouts and carrots are very, very good for you.

[size=8pt]Guess what I had for lunch today......

Yams are not related to sweet potatoes, which you sometimes (though not altogether very often) find growing in Yakima.

[size=8pt]Well, actually I had Kraft Dinner for lunch, but oh well. I never made it to Freddy's to get more veggies. Maybe tomorr--erm, later today......

Yaks are animals that the Palin family probably hunted when Bristol was young.

And I applaud those who were able to string together a couple of pages of X-words... not so much the fact that you had to Google to get these words, but still...

My sources tell me that dmargalotti and quad were texting clues to each other all day via the secure PowerWorld Intranet.

Young versions of ourselves would never have been able to do this internet thing because Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet back in our youth.

Yugos, like expanding one's horizons by googling X words for the continuation, is a case of "sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do."

Before yesterday, I never realized that xyl- prefixes usually are related to wood somehow. Who knew that's where xyl-ophone came from? I figured it was a Dutch inventor or something, but I got enlightened. I also found that xer- prefixes usually meant "dry." All that enlightenment, thanks to the FWG, like usual.

You Tube Network, if you search far enough into it, probably has video files of people showing off their Yugos.

[size=8pt]@quadraphonic--

The "xyl-" prefix is derived from "xylem," which in turn comes from the Greek "xylon" meaning "wood".

Xylem is the hard, fibrous plant tissue obtained when "phloem" (the soft, green tissue) dies and dries out, thus becoming wood and bark. In a vascular plant, the phloem carries water, and sugar to the other parts of the plant, whilst xylem carries water and secondary nutrients to the tree, supports the phloem and protects it from damage. If you strip a section of bark off a young tree trunk, you can often see a thin layer of phloem tissue underneath.

Yugos was already used in today's festivities, right up yonder on page 1571.

Yeah, I saw phloem yesterday when Silkie used xylem as a clue.
Like I said bro, a LOT of learning went down yesterday. :)

Yonder on page 1571 we already used the clue Yugo and since we are in the Y's today I'm reminded of the fact that the movie Yentl would have been so much better with Olivia Newton-John instead of Barbra Streisand.

Yentl would have been so much better with Olivia Newton-John instead of Barbra Streisand, one might say, though the soundtrack would have been top-notch had it included Stevie Wonder's "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday".

... which is playing right now on KOOL 101 in New London, CT as I type this! ::)

"Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday" as your ending clue, in addition to your italicized commentary means that you are the lazy person's favorite researcher/sleuth, DToTheJ.

Keep those e-mails from Bill comin'.

Yuengling imbibed with soft rock favorites playing in the background seems to be an okay way to spend an evening, although a very nice, old bottle of Port imbibed while sitting in a rocking chair by the fireplace might cause us to reminisce about Austin Powers while we sigh, "Yeah, baby!".

Youngest and hippest hipster doofus could be my name during the last post on which I did not yield to the rule to bold the clue.
