Fantastic word game

Forum issues beyond our control forced us to scramble to find a new home and while we've made some progress and continued to cement our place in the yet-to-be-built Internet Hall of Fame (IHF as some prefer), I must admit that there really is no place like home.

A special thanks to RD General Manager for being here to welcome us back with open arms!

No place like home is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance, and while we are at it, we should take note of the congratulatory post dated December 3, 2013, just before the site crashed, or whatever it did.

RD Congratulates members on 7 years of "The Fantastic Word Game"

The team at RadioDiscussions.com would like to thank members for their participation in The Fantastic Word Game. It's a hearty and loyal crew who continue to provide a sidebar to discussion of broadcasting here on the Off The Air forum. New participants are always welcome, and the helpful members on the thread can provide everything you need to know to play by the rules.

So carry on TFWG players, another milestone is now within reach!

The site crashed, or whatever it did and took our Fantastic Word Game with it, but now we're back here at home, where we can rock and roll and continue our long standing quest to make it to 10,000 pages.

They say you can never go back home. Well, our being here again at the original FWG thread proves that's not always true! Also, our being at page 2,985 again makes that quest to 10,000 more feasible again! :)

Our long standing quest to make it to 10,000 pages has returned to it's original home and I am so damned excited I can barely control myself.

I'm here as my original Radio-Info self, WMC2005, because I can't log in as WMC2006. I'll get there at some point. This is awesome. However, as awesome as it is, as your friendly Game Czar, I must caution RD General Manager that if he is going to join the talk, he also has to walk the walk and play the game by leaving a contribution. Thank you for your attention to this very important matter, Mr. RD General Manager . :) ;) As for playing here or there or both here and there, I'm up in the air. I'm also a poet and didn't know it. I vote for definitely coming back here. We just have to. We can't ignore 2985 pages now that they are back. We can also continue on with the other site if everyone wishes to do so.

I can barely control myself because I just figured out what I am supposed to do to play along.

I wasn't paying attention to how exactly the game was played... my bad! I don't even play the Facebook games, so I hope you'll forgive my brief ignorance on the matter. After reading from WMC2005/2006 that I should contribute, I got it! So, maybe from time to time I'll have to stop in and have some fun with y'all too!

To play along, one has to remember to use only one sentence and to bold the previously used ending clue (from which they start their new sentence) and their new ending clue.

When you get it all figured out you will discover, dmargalotti bearing me witness, that I, as Director of the Fun Department, do not deign to correct anyone who does not abide strictly by the rules, but rather, as a matter of course, admonish the Game Czar to go ahead and sue me for not pointing out a faux pas here and there.

Not pointing out a faux pas here and there is a perfectly fine policy and (in my opinion) makes the game a bit more enjoyable.

Of course, blatant violations of the rules should be met with a reprimand. ;)

Enjoyable computing is a bit of a misnomer at times, but if HP puts Windows 7 Professional on that smart little notebook it looks like a pretty good deal.

A pretty good deal is that Olivia Newton-John Greatest Hits CD I picked up at the local dollar store, or at least I thought it was a good deal until I got home and put it in my CD player only to soon realize (and I really should have read the fine print on the packaging) that it was actually the Peoria High School Freshman Choir singing the greatest hits of Olivia Newton-John which explains why they were selling the CD in a dollar store.

A pretty good deal was the five aces I got last night while playing poker, and when I combined them with the two aces I had in my back pocket, I wound up with seven aces, which was good enough to beat everyone else at the table, including my brother-in-law who was holding five kings and two Jokers.

Cheating? Who accused us of cheating? Well, boys and girls, it seems that the Fantastic Word Game now has two venues. Oh boy! I'm Steve. Thomps2525 is my main screen name. I used LARadioRewind for the eleven years that I wrote columns for LARadio.com. I also use radiorewind on RadioInsight.com. Some of you may know me by all three names. Some of you may even call me a fourth name after reading all my horrible puns. :)

Selling the CD in a dollar store seemed very depressing for me and my bandmates but, considering that we recorded only one song and we were all off-key and we had no instruments other than a 1949 Gene Autry toy guitar, I suppose we should be grateful that any store was willing to stock our album, although it technically isn't an "album" with only one fershlugginer song.

Ooh, we're already making simultaneous posts that respond to the same bolded clue. We are, indeed, back!

Contain yourselves, you are having more fun than is legally allowed. But then again, if you don't caught are you really breaking the law?

And what happens when, as happened above, 2 members contributed to the same ending/beginning? Does the Czar choose the one to use?

Breaking the law could put a person in prison, breaking a wild stallion could get a person a job with the rodeo, breaking a jar of mayonnaise could send a person back to the market, and breaking a record for the most posts could get someone a plaque in the Fantastic Word Game Hall Of Fame.

Many times we've had two replies to the same post. Last year when pages were mysteriously disappearing and reappearing, we would sometimes post a reply and then find that five or six posts suddenly showed up following the post we thought we were replying to. I think the Game Czar just ignores everything and, to paraphrase Groucho, just goes along as if nothing happened.

The Fantastic Word Game Hall Of Fame (TFWGHOF as most prefer), located smack dab in the middle of campus, includes awards for the people who posted first on the 1000th and 2000th pages.

I think that might have been scanman in both cases.

For all the newbies, including our new friend RD General Manager, I feel I should review our few rules. Take a breath and here we go:

-All contributions must begin with the entire bolded ending clue from the previous contribution. Please also bold your new ending clue.
-All contributions must be ONE sentence and ONE sentence only. We will accept a contribution in the form of a haiku in memory of our late friend, Anyacat.

Our Board of Directors:
WMC2005/2006: Game Czar
dmargalotti: Director of Early Morning Contributions; International Director of Band Camp
quadraphonic (on sabattical): Director of TPS Reports
Silkie: Head Librarian; Chief Mixologist; Director of Fun; Manager/Owner of Miss Silkie's Tasty Tidbits
darth/notDarth (RadioInsight only): Director of Internet Technology
LARR/RR/Thomps (RD only): Internet Technology Intern

The Fantastic Word Game, TFWG, tFWG, the FWG, band camp, bottled water, topless driving, Megan, Olivia, Illusions, Dave & Kenny's 80s Rockfest, mechanical bull, and a few other things are the intelligent property of PowerWorld LLC. TFWG (as I and most others except Miss Silkie prefer) is governed by a Board of Directors (those of us I listed previously) which in turn is governed by an Executive Board. We welcome everyone in our quest to reach 10,000 pages and we hope that the new-new Radio Discussions sticks around for a very long time. And we hope you have fun.

The history of the Fantastic Word Game started on December 3, 2006 and continues on today and is now in two great places.

Yet another snowstorm heading towards us here in New England, starting late tonight or early tomorrow morning, lasting all day Thursday. Another foot of snow.

Two great places to spend a Saturday night are at our weekly Rockfest with me and Kenny (hey, that reminds me...has anyone seen Kenny lately?) at Illusions in Wolcott, CT and the Motel 6 in Wolcott, CT. because you will be in no condition to drive home after partying with us all night.
