Fantastic word game

A couple of silver spoons, followed by a couple of cows jumping over a couple of moons, made him realize that he had consumed one too many magic gummies.

Object of my affection is, was and always will be The Late, Lovely Olivia Newton-John (TLLON-J as a few prefer) while the object of dmargalotti's affection is The Lovely Megan (TLM as some prefer).

Over time, you will find it is always preferable to deal with devil that is presented in the here and now, than it ever is to adjust to a new one being introduced.

I bid a fond farewell to our once newbie participant "Plate Blocker". Thank you for the time you spent here in our world and, again, I do hope you will reconsider the exit.

A new one being introduced always receives the Big Welcome and Rules speech in the hopes that the individual will keep things rolling along smoothly without interruption.

rosecity, did Plate Blocker contact you and say he isn't coming back? Or are you merely assuming he isn't coming back because he hasn't dropped by lately? Because the time between his very few visits has been, shall we say, vast so it's entirely possible, maybe even probable, that he will continue to show up now and again with absolutely no regularity.

Stuart, The Lovely Megan would be actress Megan McCormack for whom dmargalotti has many a time expressed his unrequited love. She was sort of our backup mascot behind The Lovely Olivia and has now moved on up to the forward position since Olivia passed through the Pearly Gates. That's not something that's new, Stuart. You really need to write this stuff down. :) I think we need to get Miss Phyllis to quiz you every so often. :)

Speaking of regularity, I am pleased to say, with great regularity, that the weekend has arrived and it's time to unwind, relax, and get down with our own bad selves tomorrow night at the new Illusions for another great 80s Rockfest. And join us for some great grub at Denny's following that. See ya there and have a great weekend.

Without interruption, the Stuart and Phyllis weekend of entertainment continues tonight with a "Journey" concert. 🎶

Last night it was Katt Williams (special guests...Mark Curry, Tommy Davidson, and Monique!)

A Journey concert would most certainly include one of their biggest hits "Separate Ways".

Plate Blocker isn't the only one to have done so either, WMC. Dropping the redneck gimmick here for a second. You have absolutely no business telling anyone else that they will be ignored within this game. The rest of us allow you to act as the official Game Czar, and don't forget that. You are not afforded that power. Most of the antics in the game are simple good natured ribbing and done so in jest when one of us make a mistake. You certainly know that, but a new participant wouldn't. What you did was taking it a step too far and that's why I called you out on it.

Move back towards reality, sir. You do not have the control or power to ignore anyone here. None of us are your puppets. In that vein, and if my fellow distinguished players agree since the game actually belongs to each one of us, I am placing the use of semicolons and ellipses into the hands of the players. If you feel the need or desire to employ one, go for it. You must maintain a single sentence, but if that sentence passes the muster of CT, who is the actual real life expert in the realm of proper punctuation, the assigned "Director of Linguistics" in the game, and the overall English language aficionado, then it will be considered a valid play. It's time to implement some democracy around here.

Separate ways of looking at this situation are what WMC, rosecitymedia and I have.

To wit, I accept banter and mock criticism as part of the game, and, while I don't necessarily agree with WMC on certain issues of grammar -- the semicolon being the primary one -- I'm not going to put his feet to the fire over them. It's his game. We're all just living in it. I do agree with rcm that blocking or banning are extreme measures, to be taken only when the entries being submitted by the person in question consistently violate the rules and make the game unpleasant for most players. I don't think PB's offenses quite reached that level. Peace?

Every time someone voilates the one sentence rule, I have to say that, as far as I recall, I did not say that I or we should ignore a person but that we can (and have for a very long time) ignore a particular contribution that does not follow the rules.

I'd have to find that conversation to make sure. Perhaps you, rosecity, can find it since you've become so adept at it. If I actually said that we should ignore/block an actual player, I will certainly own up to that and apologize. What I meant is that we can (and have for a very long time, rosecity, way longer than your time here which I would think you'd already know since you are so informed about everything that has happened here for years) ignore a particular contribution that doesn't follow the rules and revert to the most recent ending clue prior to that. The very long timers here (dmargalotti, scanman, Miss Silkie) would agree with me that that's what we have done many many times and they have done that (of their own volition) many many times. Again, if I actually said to ignore the person, that was a mistake on my part.

Semicolons and ellipses have never been officially banned but they are definitely frowned upon. You want to use them, go right ahead. However, semicolons pretty much create two sentences violating the one sentence rule. Ellipses are just horrific and don't belong in a one sentence contribution.

CT, thank you, but it's not my game. I just pretend to run it and you guys (most of you) pretend to let me run it. So, as rosecity has said, let's get back to reality where you are the real life Director of Linguistics. Didn't think they needed one of those up in Vermont. :)

The rules of this game should maybe change and be called guidelines. ⁉️

Meghan? Plate Blocker? Lions, Tigers and Bears? Ellipses? (never look directly at one!)

Guidelines and/or rules have served us well over 17 years.

If you think some rule or guideline should be changed, then by all means let us know and everyone can speak their piece about it.
