Fantastic word game

Destruction, and sudden destruction at that, will come upon you when you least expect it.

When you least expect it, some hellish southern buffoonery may take over this space causing everyone, once again, to head for parts unknown.

A deserted tropical island sounds pretty good to me.

Head for parts unknown if'n you'd ever like to step into the squared circle n' pay a visit to The Masked Superstar, Lord Humongous, or the Missing Link.

Hey, thanks fer that wickedly good end clue there, man o' the mayflowers.

Signed,

the buffoon

The Missing Link, several of them in fact, would be welcome back in the form of Stuart, quadraphonic, dmargalotti, or Miss Silkie.

Or any and all combinations thereof.

You're welcome. My pleasure.

Stuart, quadraphonic, dmargalotti, or Miss Silkie would be sorry to see a weapon of mass destruction unleashed upon the world's longest internet word game, which is why we have been working on our own defensive nuclear shield during our time away from the game.

"During our time away from the game" is an ending clue I could pick up and really get creative with, if not for the fact that I've never taken any significant time away.

Wings was the name of a band formed by former Beatle Paul McCartney.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney performed at band camp some years ago but has never returned to grace us with his presence.

Speaking of presence, it's very nice to be graced by the presence of dmargalotti, HOSS scanman and Ed, all at once, and almost at the same time, which hasn't happened in quite the while. Nice to see you guys. CT, it's nice to see you, too. But you've been here and they haven't. ;)

His presence here at The Fantastic Word Game (TFWG as some prefer) reminds us that almost anyone can find their name being used as a great ending clue.

Not to ruffle feathers fer any o' you Beatles fans out there, but this is what Paul McCartney would look like as a professional wrestler.

Y'all know full-well that ain't the o-riginal "Paul" that's still with us, I reckon.

A professional wrestler probably wouldn't focus on correct grammar but CT does except in the case of his most recent contribution where I'm pretty darned sure there should be commas separating 'sunny Florida' from the rest of the contribution.

So I guess I won't use commas either. :p

The rest of the contribution was aimed die-rectly at yer oftentimes uninspirin' usage o' end clues, but I reckon it's best that the rest o' y'all just overlook that small detail.

I'll try n' do the same. After all, we only have a limited time left together in this world.

A mystery it is not, given we all know exactly why the Padre, scanman, n' the man from the land o' the frozen tidbits have all returned to our active ranks.

It's a simple matter o' the Fantastic allure beckonin', n' there ain't no amount o' redneckery or pro-rasslin' that could ever truly stop it.

Padre, good to have you back. There's been a fair share o' sinnin' goin' on 'round these here parts without you. A tip o' the 10-gallon yer way fer not lettin' the farmhouse shenanigans get the best o' you. Scanman, Mister Ed, glad to see you two back down off'n the hill, too.

Our active ranks, and my recent absence, had nothing to do with the aforementioned farmhouse shenanigans, but y'all better stop all that sinnin' you've been doing and get right with the Good Lord before it's too late!

It's too late fer me n' WMC to ever be drinkin' buddies, but I reckon it'd be acceptable fer this rose n' that mayflower to share the same pot.
