Fantastic word game

Public gaffes by presidents include one from 1984 when during a sound check Ronald Reagan said, "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes", without realizing that the microphone was live and his words were going out over the air.
 
A big rain storm (rainstorm, as AP, Merriam-Webster and yours truly prefer) might be needed to finally melt away the last of the snow piles still remaining after this past winter's snowstorms.

As those same three authorities likewise prefer.
 
Snowstorms should be over and done with for the season even though I live in New England where the weather could change at the drop of a hat.
 
Subtitles were needed pretty much any day the hayseed was here so I tended to put all of his comments and/or contributionsd through the anti-hayseed-speak generator.
