FCC Get KO'd...Could HD be next?

However, if Martin takes Chairman Dingell's suggestion, Satrad receivers would be open for inclusion of "other technologies", as determined by marketplace forces. Struble may regret such a request, as this would open up competition with iPods and the Internet on Satrad receivers. There are approximately 100,000,000+ iPods, and sales continue to grow. The difference in cost of adding an iPod jack to Satrad receivers, versus the technical difficulties and cost of adding HD, would be considerable (Satrad hasn't even been able to create a practical interoperable receiver). Plus, iBiquity demands licensing and HD chipset fees.

...which only proves that both Struble and Dingell are technical morons. I'd love to see how they propose to make a radio that will tune any and all radio frequencies, from AM all the way up to satellite and WiFi, and make it affordable and small enough for consumers to want it. The licensing and chipset fees you mentioned would already make the "affordable" part a non-starter.

Satrad hasn't produced an interoperable receiver because there is, as yet, no demand for them. The merger is still awaiting all regulatory approvals, and even after the merger becomes fact, the proposed pricing structure will still permit the individual channel line-ups to be sold a la carte, if that's what some customers want. Even if the merger weren't in the works, duplication of subscriptions between the two satrad companies is so insignificant as to be off the radar.

What I still dont quite get is with Cable, fios,DSL,wireless, cellular ,why in the <BEEP> do we need BPL?
???
Because the Cable, fios,DSL,wireless, and cellular companies are claiming to make lotsa money off of something the power companies don't have. ::)

So hows this work I put my 110VAC plug into my ethernet hole by some form of filtering or settop box and I get internet ?With 60hz noise, and the risk of my computer going BOOM ,who needs it?Will there actually be a customer that needs or want this BY NOW?Who would want to switch by the time they got this all ironed out?
Not me!

Sure just like the old turn-your-house-wiring into a giant TV antenna scam that used to be in the back of magazines.

I remember those! One was made by FEDTRO, infamous purveyor of junk. My local Fay's Drugs used to sell their products back in Aisle 19.

Fedtro marketed another "WoNdErFuL!" indoor antenna called the X-400 Electro Rocket, which I just found on eBay. Apparently, this was an offshoot of "space age technology", as it happened to be in the shape of a rocket. Fedtro promised "movie clear" reception (although they didn't mention the movie film had been dragged through a dustpile first). Get your bids in now, this may be the solution to all HD reception problems!
