FCC is a joke !

Hot 87.7 Sunday morning gospel show is good for the community.

If it's all that wonderful, why don't they lease and AM station and do it legitimately? I'm sure there's some AM operators that would LOVE to lease the airtime, then they can sell their own spots, pay taxes, pay FICA and all the other taxes to their employees.

It reminds me of after the Rodney King verdict when a good portion of L.A. was stealing televisions and VCR's in hopes of avenging the verdict. Yeah right, they just wanted a free TV and Hot 87 (97) wants a free ride too, because they feel something is "owed" to them because the commercial urban station isn't to their liking. SO, get off your asses, and do it legally and be a success.

Radio becoming like the wild west isn't good for anybody, it cheapens the whole product. I'm not saying that every commercial station is wonderful; what I'm saying is do it right and be respected.

I have been listening to 87.7 the last few days and I know they are a pirate but besides that I can't believe the programming. Folks yelling and acting like they have very limited vocabularies. I guess it's the way Hip Hop folks are supposed to talk but it sounds ridiculous on the radio. Yelling with bad grammar. When folks try to paint these pirates as if they serve some sort of community purpose is this it?? Acting like the community is illiterate on purpose to be cool. Rapking I don't see it...They sound like fools screaming into a mic. References to booty calls... women referred to as shorties and heap full of YO, YO YO's. That's a great community service.

"shorty" is not derogatory. also content is presented in urban vernacular because thats the language of the target audience. the energetic mic sets ("screaming") are par for the course. all the big hiphop dj's (funk flex, kayslay, kid capri, clue etc) present content in that manner. its not a hot 87.7 thing, its a hiphop thing. if your target audience is young urban people, you must speak their language and present content in a manner inline with hiphop culture.

i interviewed two potential employees at my former company - both had masters degrees and both used incorrect grammer during the interview. unfortunately you cannot judge a person on proper language usage anymore.
