FCC is a joke !

Tonight show at The Wilbur Theatre is SOLDOUT again ( Great adds on Hot 87.7 ). I am sure that local companies and Hot 87.7 have no problem dealing with The FCC foolishness.

Doesn't matter how many people show up at the Wibur...or even how many listeners they have....Illegal is illegal.

No problem....as long as they have an extra $10,000 to fork over.

They must have made more than $10000 in ad revenue. Their signal's so strong that it was heard on e-skip in Florida.

Yes and I am hearing alot of adds from The mayor office . Hot 87.7 (Hot97Boston.com ) is here for a long time. While the big Boston Radio companies avoid the urban radio crowd, Hot 87.7 is making big bucks.

Drug dealers make money too from providing an illegal service. The reason this station is making money is because they don't have to pay taxes, licensing fees or any of the other costs associated with running a legit radio station.

And The MAYOR OF BOSTON LOVE IT !

>Drug dealers make money too from providing an illegal service.
And nearly all of the violence associated with drugs is caused by the fact of illegality and would be avoided with more sensible laws.

Since NOBODY but them know whether they are actually making money or not, you have no reason to suppose the reason for their profits if there are any.

It doesn't matter how much money they make --- they probably won't pay the fine.

Maybe the mayor should record all their liners. That'll fix 'em.

There are repercussions if they don't pay.

Maybe they'll get a lien on their house! Maybe they'll get their wages garnished (if there are any).

Maybe they'll get a freeze put on their bank accounts.

Or, if anything, the hotel room that they operate out of...

There's no such thing as illegal anymore. [EDIT] It only follows that the stations who do it the right way should support those who feel that they don't need to obey the law. There is a sense of entitlement in this country, that unfortunately is getting worse, that will be the downfall of America.

It seem that only certain people must obey laws. To paraphrase George Orwell 'some people are more equal than others'.

They probably won't pay, and any repercussions won't appear for years, if at all.

In order to collect, the FCC has to refer the case to the US attorney for the Boston area, who must then get a court order to garnishee wages or attach liens to assets. Those kinds of cases are so badly backed up in the courts that it will probably be years before those orders ever come down, if they ever do.

It only take a piece of paper to impose a fine. Collecting it is another matter entirely.

Sometimes it shows up when you try to sell your property....

part 15 jumped the shark w/ the power limits.

this was the text on all the consumer electronics in the 80s at least:

(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

well.. who is 87.7 interfering with? and how could they 'not accept' interfference anyways?

BUT...they are making money off of providing an illegal service, regardless of what you think of the laws.

True, I don't know whether they're making money or not; I was responding to a, perhaps, hypothetical scenario laid out by rapking. If they are, to quote Rapking, "making big bucks", the reasons I outlined are not expenses said "operator" is paying, therefore adding to the , supposed, bottom line. Sorry for NOT clarifying that in my previous post. Happy now?

Wait until another pirate steps on his pirate then listen to the screams.

Anarchy is great until it steps on you.
