Actually 104.7 flipped to KVRY in 91. So Their Rhythmic Era was late 80s. They played CCCP, Freestyle Express, Trinere, Cover Girls, Afro Rican, Samantha Fox, Sir MixALot and so on. I realize this was after KUKQ, but very edgy for a CHR where other markets wouldn't touch

Black population isn't large enough according to Arbitron to support a pure Urban AC. L.A. has similar pop count and KJLH loses Black to KHHT, Power 106, and sometimes even the Wave.
San Francisco has a smaller black population percentage 6.5 but kblx Is doing good.Phoenix has TWO old school r&b stations. Other races like r&b and kjlh in LA has a terrible signal.How about an urban ac with a good signal in Phoenix?
