And yet...what a lame, stale-sounding station!
It only sounds that way when they play 'Dust In The Wind", "War", "Black Water", "You've Got A Friend", "Moondance", & a few others like they are current hits! With the hundreds of hit singles from the mid-60's to the mid-80's to choose from, there is NO REASON to play any song EVERY DAY! (or twice, in some cases!) Here is just a short list of hit singles that could easily be played instead:
"To Sir With Love" (1967)
"Judy In Disquise" (1968)
"Dizzy" (1969)
"Knock Three Times" (1970/71)
"Photograph" (1973)
"TSOP" (1974)
"Love Will Keep Us Together" (1975)
"Love Hangover" (1976)
"Coming Up{Live At Glasglow}" (1980)
"(Just Like)Starting Over (1980/81)
All of the above were #1 pop singles, & would nicely fit the format. There is NOTHING more stale than hearing the same, predictable stuff on a daily basis. KKLZ has a winning format here, but if they aren't careful, they can screw it up if they don't attempt to freshen up their playlist every so often. There is no shortage of hit records to choose from, and hearing a hit from years gone by that hasn't been played in a long while(especially if you liked that song) is a good listen, & it keep the audience tuned to see what will the next forgotten "classic hit" will be played!
