Who says that you can't go home again??? KKLZ Jams!!! (except when they play "Dust In The Wind" or "Black Water"; I still dislike those songs!!

The former oldies format gets renamed Classic Hits, adds more 70's and 80's, drops most 60's and all 50's and BOOM! Instant top ranking (and, perhaps, billing). A big ol "tip of the Stetson" (thank you, Dan Rather not report the truth) to the crew at KKLZ.

And yet...what a lame, stale-sounding station!
It only sounds that way when they play 'Dust In The Wind", "War", "Black Water", "You've Got A Friend", "Moondance", & a few others like they are current hits! With the hundreds of hit singles from the mid-60's to the mid-80's to choose from, there is NO REASON to play any song EVERY DAY! (or twice, in some cases!) Here is just a short list of hit singles that could easily be played instead:
"To Sir With Love" (1967)
"Judy In Disquise" (1968)
"Dizzy" (1969)
"Knock Three Times" (1970/71)
"Photograph" (1973)
"TSOP" (1974)
"Love Will Keep Us Together" (1975)
"Love Hangover" (1976)
"Coming Up{Live At Glasglow}" (1980)
"(Just Like)Starting Over (1980/81)

All of the above were #1 pop singles, & would nicely fit the format. There is NOTHING more stale than hearing the same, predictable stuff on a daily basis. KKLZ has a winning format here, but if they aren't careful, they can screw it up if they don't attempt to freshen up their playlist every so often. There is no shortage of hit records to choose from, and hearing a hit from years gone by that hasn't been played in a long while(especially if you liked that song) is a good listen, & it keep the audience tuned to see what will the next forgotten "classic hit" will be played!

That station plays nearly 600 cuts in an average week, and the most one plays is 10 times a week. With the 25-54 TSL around 8 hours a week, the average person will hear a 10 spin song about every two weeks.

You realize, of course, that these songs range from stiffs to ultra stiffs today?

All of the above were #1 pop singles, & would nicely fit the format.

They are not hits today.

Why are you suggesting that a station that, other than two Spanish langauge stations, is #1 25-54 should change its music and mix?

There is NOTHING more stale than hearing the same, predictable stuff on a daily basis. KKLZ has a winning format here, but if they aren't careful, they can screw it up if they don't attempt to freshen up their playlist every so often.

Manure is not refreshing. Like manure, stiffs stink and cause tun-out.

There is no shortage of hit records to choose from,

If you play songs that are still hits (hit = song losts of people want to hear), there are not that many.

and hearing a hit from years gone by that hasn't been played in a long while(especially if you liked that song) is a good listen

If lots of people liked it and still do, it will be in the regular all-week playlist.

& it keep the audience tuned to see what will the next forgotten "classic hit" will be played!

If the song is forgotten, it has no passion, power or memories. In other words, it is a stiff.
