FEDMED RECRUITING WALKING WOUNDED

It's ironic that they are luring in other talent by touting their "family" business environment, all the while slashing the throats of their current family members.

In the end, family business or not, family business environment or not, Federated Media is like all other companies in the United States.

Federated Media is a business that still, at the end of the day, needs to make some money.

I appreciate an earlier comment made by "k105mark" in this threat - "Federated Media demands only one thing of its employees. You work hard and you achieve success."

Those who work hard and achieve success there, are well rewarded. Those that do not, toil there in relative obscurity or they are no longer employees of Federated Media.

So true! In the end, it's a business that needs to make money. That puts it in perfect perspective. If they can replace a current jock with someone for less money who had good numbers but got cut due to budgets, all that stuff about being family goes down the toilet. It's about making money, not family or how a jock performs. Well said!

How often we forget that radio is a business and not an art form. How often we forget that the facility or enterpise we toil in was built with someone else putting their capital or someone else's capital at risk.

There is a very touchy-feely ad in allaccess recruiting jocks for all shifts at Fedmed, and it looks like they are trying to attract the CCr's who just got cut.

Of course, they could have had a bunch of CC folks had the Defiance deal gone through last year...I know, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...

If anyone REALLY knows Fed Med, they know Shannon personifies the phrase, "Work hard and you achieve success!" She started as an intern off the street, and "Worked Hard" to "Achieve" the success of a full-time airshift. Doing EVERYTHING asked of her and more. Only to be let go for "Budget cuts!" So who are they kidding?? They are really a CC company in "Family" clothing. (But yet an underperforming PD/Afternoon jock on a Classic Rock Station stays on a Tony's constant 'Yes Boy')

"Old Values, New Ideas" is just a BS phrase they roll out to people who buy into the "Tony Richards" Blue/Red Kool-Aid.

If you truly work hard and perform well, you might be fortunate to achieve the less than 2% cost of living "Raise," as your bonus. Yes it's great to still be employed, but don't think they are REAL 'family' unless you bow down to the alter of Tony Richards and Alec Dillie. Alec is the NEW 'Godfather' of all Fed Med, not just what he 'owns'(with Daddy's Money).

John Dillie truly believed in good radio, but just like CC, the money got in the way, and so did Alec and Tony.

What a shame!

UPDATE: FEDMED RECRUITING WALKING WOUNDED

Sure enough, heads are rolling at Fedmed South. "Budget cuts." Meanwhile, that sappy allaccess ad keep resurfacing inviting people to join the family. Ya, the Manson family. :p

With all due respect to those being cut at FedMed and everywhere else, no one should believe that working in radio guarantees anyone lifelong employment. I knew that in 1975. It hasn't changed.

Agreed, but that's not what got people chapped. To recap, it started with Fedmed's ad on allacess back when CC had the first round of big cuts. It was pretty obvious they were targeting former CCr's asking for resumes and touting the promised land of lollipops and ice cream in family owned company that cares about their employees. There weren't any positions open at Fedmed, so rumors came out that Fedmed was looking to replace existing staff with people desperate for a job who would work for less money. Rumors were denied. The ad was posted again. Now Fedheads are rolling due to budget cuts. It's just ironic that they used the idea of a loving family environment to lure in people to replace family members they were planning to whack.

For what it's worth, Shannon is still on the air at Fed Med, as the midday jock on WLEG out of Elkhart.

they were probably ALSO just fishing for EEO resumes, with NO job offering. people who do that in this economy with so many looking for work should be....... well, pick the punishment. i can tell you i've run into it more than once with current "job" postings, there's nothing there EVEN when its there.
