Final Faux Format

These are good ones too - unfortunately, I've known every theme so far which means I watch way too much TV. I just don't understand why they are cutting off the end of every one of them. I guess at noon they will finally acknowledge the new format - All Gallatin Football, All the Time (at 10 times the legal power)!!!!

I'm not sure if Romer has anything to do with it, but Gerry House keeps saying he also has multiple "special announcements" today. The first has something to do with needing a haircut!

I'm only involved effective 9/8...and I had my hair cut yesterday...
confused?

I tuned in between 4:30 and 5:00 this morning, and they were not cutting off the ends of the songs at that time!

And talk about confused! The first one I heard this morning was "Bandstand," leading me to believe they were doing all Barry Manilow today! ;D

I may be away from the computer at noonish, but I will be tuned in to 102.5 at that time! ;D After all, I gotta find out what my new signature line is going to be! ;D

Yes, I will be listening at Noon as well. What are the chances that 102.5 Will Not be the party? I'm holding out hope for something other than a previous failed format.

Some seriously sloppy reporting here!

From the home page of this site:

Nashville’s "Party" is back
After several days of stunting, including running music as “Frank FM” with All Frank Sinatra music, then all Led Zeppelin, to all Garth Brooks, and most recently all-TV tunes, Montgomery Broadcasting’s WVNS, the former “V102.5”, flips to “The Party” as Rhythmic top 40. The station had a previous incarnation as "the Party" prior to its run as AC "Venus" and "V103". The station also picks up new call letters, WPRT. According to the new website, the station PD is Troy Hanson, and syndicated morning man Kidd Kraddick will start soon, along with the rest of the on air staff. The first songs played on the new "Party" included John Sebastian's "Welcome Back," Nelly Furtado's "Party People", Pink Floyd's "Get the Party Started", Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack", Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" and 50 Cent's "In Da Club." The Radio-Info.com boards are already weighing in: Discuss It

"V-103"? Since Cromwell already owns the Buzz at 102.9, a name like "V-103" would be unnecessarily confusing for a station at dial position 102.5, especially with the same ownership! ???

John Sebastian's "Welcome Back" was not the first song played under the new top 40 format. It was the last of the TV theme songs they played this morning. I don't think a 33-year-old song would fly on a current top 40 format! I dug it on top 40 radio when I was 12, but that was in 1976!

And Pink Floyd's "Let's Get the Party Started"? That's just comical, it's so humorous! ;D

i don't know if i should be proud or ashamed that i,too, knew damn near every TV theme song..kinda unsure at the ones after the mid eighties..but 50 through the late 70's..knew them all..and whats worse..i guess..is i have them all..and more on my hard drive...sad to waste a life like i have.. :'( and i enjoyed listening...nothing like turning on the black lights, lava lamps, and snorting the old A/M..cranking up theme from MANNIX.....

Dammit all, I lost the in-house pool that the new morning show was going to be Bailey & Romer --- aka The Geritol House Party...

I actually like way The Party sounds... I guess it's not a Fauxed Format anymore.

I'll be the first to admt I wasn't crazy about the Party returning. But this is a better sounding station than the previous version of the party. So far, the station is very listenable.

Delta? I have to 2nd that question? WTH?

And, how can Bud afford to pay all those people with virtually no advertising on that station?
Did he win the TN lottery and not tell us? Maybe that's why that's the only commercial on there, over and over.

If you go back a few pages you will find the thread regarding the posted Cromwell Group Marketing Position. It reads as a full time job but it emphasizes PART TIME.

With the exception of upper management the paychecks are skimpy. Plus, Cromwell pays salary and expects loyalty. Management will explain to an employee "You work as long as it takes to get the required job finished." So if Cromwell is paying you the minimum salary permitted by law, $23,600 and they demand an 80 hour week, your hourly salary after the math is completed is $5.67/hour. Wage and hour has a simple rule, even salaried employees must make at least the hourly minimum wage. If there is a paper trail then the employee wins. Cromwell receives an occasional visit from Wage and Hour who wind up issuing fines as well as ordering Cromwell to issue back pay to current and former employees.

Speaking of advertising, I seem to remember Bud selling his overnight avails to a record company. For a couple of weeks one of his stations, I believe it was "The Party", played an Avril Lavigne song four times an hour for six hours. This was an effort to inflate the play of the song with the monitoring services. When Bud was questioned about the practice, his response was, "I'm in the advertising business".
