Final hours of Energy

Thats awesome for the recordings.

Thank you very much, justthenumbers!

In listening to the launch of Energy arizona, did they use the exact same launch for Energy Chicago?

Also, will you be recording the relaunch of the new station today?

Except for some of the wording near the end, and the different voice talents (Energy-Chicago: Sean Caldwell; Energy-Arizona: Harry Legg), the launches are virtually the same. At the time, the major connection between the two stations was Chris Shebel -- he was the Program Director of Energy-Chicago, and he helped launch/consult Energy-Arizona. So, it would make sense that they signed on the same way.

For those who want to compare:

Energy-Chicago sign-on:

As long as my 1998 Panasonic Hi-Fi VCR doesn't start eating my tapes again...yes. :) I have the timer set to record from 9am to 3pm.

If all goes well, I will try to get the relaunch (and probably the first song) online sometime this evening.

Also, the special Energy version of Dee Dee's "Forever"-- the final song played by Energy-Chicago -- was both the second-to-first and the second-to-last song played on Energy-Arizona.

and it is....................

92.7 & 99.3 The Beat...Classic Hip Hop

as predicted.

I'm very disappointed.

It was awful... Guns n Roses, then heartbeat, then boring run up of the station's focus (everything from Outkast and Beastie Boys...blah blah..) It was like a 2 min crash course in Hip-hop. The only way it could have been more predictable is if St. John voiced the imaging...

I did appreciate "Home" from Depeche Mode as the 2nd to last song during the stunting. Then it all went downhill from there... :'(

sweet thx for the post on the launch of the beat. does anyone know the name of the first song played on energy when it first came on!
