Finneran's new venture: Beacon Hill lobbyist

man, doesn't anybody read the Globe on this board??? (just kiddin')

http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/01/29/finnerans_new_venture_beacon_hill_lobbyist/

It was not clear last night how Finneran intends to remain an effective commentator on state politics and policy while also representing clients before state officials. WRKO programmer Jason Wolfe could not be reached.

"I am at a stage in my life where I would like to do a good number of things," Finneran said. "I don't want to be narrow in the way I approach life."

His program, "Finneran's Forum," slipped from seventh last summer to eighth this fall in the Arbitron ratings of Boston radio programs during that time slot. It draws an average of 161,000 weekly listeners.

"I have a multiyear contract that runs a few more years," said Finneran. "They have made a substantial investment in me."

ugh.

of all the unions to represent, finns picks one of the worst.

all the state police are concerned about is keeping their road construction details. (that us taxpayers eventually get the bill for).

ill stop now before i get too riled up...

I think there things stem from an ethical problem with WRKO management. Hell, they have an employee of their own PR firm on ait on weekends. Can anybody say "Conflict of Interest?" This is basically the same thing. Can you imagine being paid to affect political issues or in the case of the flack, advancing the agendas of private companies, and a broadcasting company with full access to the public ether gives you a radio program that allows you promote your clients issues and pay you for it. I'm no expert with FCC regulations, but if a reg or policy isn't broken, it sure is bent pretty well.

TOMMY IS IN VIOLATION OF HIS CONTRACT WITH WRKO. THERE IS A MORAL TURPITUDE CLAUSE WHICH PROVIDES THAT HE CANNOT ENGAGE IN ANY CONDUCT THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL, UNETHICAL OR VIOLATE THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST LAWS OR REGULATIONS OF ANY LOCAL, STATE OR FEDERAL JURISDICTION.

GIVEN THE FACT THAT TOM IS ABOUT TO BE RELEASED FROM HIS CONTRACT IN A FEW WEEKS...IT APPEARS THAT ENTERCOM WILL BE ABLE TO AVOID THE BUYOUT THAT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED.

STAY-TUNED.........

Seriously? His show started last Feb 12...so...

>>GIVEN THE FACT THAT TOM IS ABOUT TO BE RELEASED FROM HIS CONTRACT IN A FEW WEEKS...IT APPEARS THAT ENTERCOM WILL BE ABLE TO AVOID THE BUYOUT THAT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED.

Hmm! Howie btw tried to get the Felon when he was kidding around with the Gov. ("Three will go in
the car, only two will come back") about bumping off Howie. Howie registered a complaint with the judge.

So it's good news/bad news today for WTKK.

The good news is that WTTT flipped to Spanish and their handful of listeners are likely to drift to the FM dial.

The bad news is that WTKK lost their secret weapon for success in morning drive: keeping Finneran on the air.

...and you know this...how?

Herald: Entercom seeing if Finneran's new job will be a conflict of interest. Wolfie wants to make sure.
Tommy's agent insists WRKO is his main career and the lobbying work won't conflict, but an "ethics
group leader" at an institute in Florida says "it was a conflict of interest."

At SaveWRKO they're saying "local buzz" is hinting Finneran would be gone before he makes his
first anniversary on Feb 12....hmm.

Finneran, on-air: "I really applaud the job our state troopers do. They are VASTLY underpaid and grossly over-worked. Those 'paid details' are what make Massachusetts GREAT! They are our core competency as a state! Our troopers deserve your love, admiration, and doughnuts."

Come on RKO. It's time to get rid of this bum. It was a bad move in the first place to hire him and now you have a good excuse to get rid of him.

You would think he would have been thankful just to have a great gig working at RKO and getting vastly overpaid, but like the sleeze that he is, he had to push for more.

Dump him!

Is WRKO the worst run station in America? I don't pay any attention to that SaveRKO sight anymore, but maybe they're onto something.

Finneran has to be, now that Barnicle and Graham are gone, the worst major market morning talk show in America. Not just Boston, but anywhere. Has anyone heard worse?

And now he's in the papers because he's taking money from unions involved in issues hes supposed to talk about? I've never heard of that kind of corruption anywhere.

Then there is that crossover guy. He's not just bad, but he sounds like he's on the wrong station. It's like some bad urban FM station is bleeding onto WRKO's signal.

Then Rush, who can't be doing well in Boston.

Then Howie, a guy who begged to work somewhere else. Maybe the can make him work, but they can't make him sound like he wants tobe there.

If you didn't know it, you would think it was a radio station from some small town somewhere. It's got to be the worst.
