Fire at WIFI 92.9

There’s a big fire going on at Fountain of Life Church in Florence. This is also the broadcasting location of WIFI 92.9. The building appears to be a total loss, and the station is currently off the air.

Fountain of Life sold WIFI and W225DJ-FX in 2021 to Ritmo Broadcasting at 2224 Federal Street in Camden. The station is listed as having a "romántica" Spanish format.

True but the OP is correct in that 1460 WIFI, the primary for W225DJ, broadcasts from it's directional array at this site. The translator filed a mod for an upgrade and I believe broadcasts from the WPST tower across the river in PA, having moved from the original site on one of the WIFI towers. This is truly sad news indeed... Let's hope there were/are no injuries or fatalities.

The question is whether the phasor and transmitter are in the church building or in an outbuilding on the leased land. It's possible that the power was cut due to the fire, but that the facility is still intact. For them, let's hope for the best.

It's on the church property not inside the church building engulfed and in ruins. Problem is none of the media coverage is showing any vantage points other than close-ups from directly overhead. That might be the only good news to come out of this tragedy if it was indeed far enough away.

92.9 recently shifted away from the Spanish language format to a urban/chr English format. I assume they’re still fed from 1460AM. I can’t be sure if the FM transmits from the Florence location or the WPST tower. I live close enough to pick up from either.
As of now there seem to thankfully be no injuries or deaths.

Listed where? WIFI/W225DJ have been Hip Hop "92.9 Jamz" for a year now. The translator has a CP to move to the 94.5 WPST tower in Fairless Hills PA to better serve the Trenton market.

On a certain expensive data service.... of course, they did get that it was no longer religious.

If that's the actual link to the 92.9 Jamz website, it needs to be updated. It still says Copyright 2022 at the bottom, and the 2nd to top news story when you scroll down is that Tommy LaSorda has died. He passed in January, 2021.

It also says"Ritmo Bradcasting Copyright © 2022. All Rights Reserved "

I don't know how Brad is and why he is casting.

11/2020 - CHR "Wifi 92.9"
4/6/2021 - Spanish Tropical "Ritmo" 92.9
10/20/2021 - Spanish AC "Amor 92.9"
3/24/2022 - Rhythmic CHR "Wifi 92.9"
3/29/2022 - Spanish AC "Amor 92.9"
4/21/2022 - Urban Contemporary "Jamz 92.9"
3/6/2023 - Urban Top 40 "Jamz 92.9"

7 flips in 2.5 years.

Choose a format! Yikes.
I listened to the stream a few days ago, and I heard some pop songs playing. They also added "DeDe in the Morning", but as of March 4th, their slogan is "Today's Hits" with a 104.1 signal added.

Had a really cool tour of the tower site back when MIke Venditti was around. We drove through meadowlands-like weeds
from the studio to one of the tower buildings.

WJZ 640 also broadcasted from this facility in the 90’s right across the hall from WIFI 1460. Their original studio was inside of an old barn at the 50,000 watt transmitter site in Pemberton but due to a conflict with the land owner they were evicted and forced to shut down for a few months in the mid 1990’s. With the help of Mike Venditti they were able to set up shop with a “temporary” 1700 watt transmitter at the Florence facility. They remained in Florence until they were sold to Radio Disney in 1999.

I had the opportunity to tour the original studio in Pemberton. It was still there into the 2000’s which was years after the previous owners were evicted. Disney bought the station and they transmitted from the Pemberton site but obviously everything was piped in via satellite, That said, the original console, turntables, and cart machines, stacks of albums and 78 RPM records, along with a gigantic blue 50,000 watt RCA transmitter were still there. All of the equipment was ancient (circa 1950’s and 60’s). I don’t believe Disney was using big blue but it may have been there as a back up transmitter.

This was 23 years ago, I have to doubt that all of that ancient equipment is still there, but who knows?
