First Impressions of Now 92.3

Poking fun at the competition can be good thing if it's done right. But from what I've heard, Now's efforts are pointless, unfunny, and lacking any basis in truth.

As for attacking Z100. May be amusing to the younger end of the demo...

I doubt "hot-rockin', flame-throwin'" will mean anything to the younger end of Z100's demo.

Yeah. Wasn't talking about ONE sweeper. Speaking as a whole.

hmm they seem to be adding "some" rock songs in there now

Now Playing "Fight for your right" Beastie Boys

They need to be a bit less Rhythmic than AMP LA. So they are tweaking in the right direction.

As I just posted in another thread I think it's important to remember that we're not in Tampa Bay circa 1989. You can't just copy & paste the Marc Chase (then PD of the Power Pig) playbook from 1989, especially since Z-100 isn't as vulnerable as Q-105 was. Scott Shannon could have told you that as he is the reason Q-105 was so successful in the early 80s.

Gold/Recurrent Titles that Now 92.3 should be thinking of adding:
Tanto Metro & Devonte "Everyone Falls In Love"
Colby Odonis "What You Got"
Sean Paul "I'm Still In Love With You"
Sean Paul "Break It Off"
Pras "Ghetto Superstar"
Cascada "Everytime We Touch"
Wayne Wonder "No Letting Go"
Alice Deejay "Better Off Alone"
David Guetta "Love Is Gone"
Notorious BIG "Juicy"
Notorious BIG "Hypnotize"
Ja Rule "Always On Time"
Kat Deluna "Whine Up"
Lupe Fiasco "Superstar"
Mary J. Blige "Real Love"
Kevin Lyttle "Turn Me On"
Sasha "Dat Sexy Body"
Fat Joe "Whats Luv"
Rihanna "Unfaithful"
DJ Sammy "Heaven"
Missy Eliott "Work It"
Jay Z & Beyonce "Bonnie & Clyde 03"
Terror Squad "Lean Back"

Wow Very good selection

I would Also Include

Hinder- Lips of an Angel
Panic at the Disco- I write Sins Not Tragedies
Baby Bash- Cyclone
Nickelback- Saving me
Kanye West- Gold Digger

I'm liking it a lot so far -- if I were going to program it, it's sounding pretty much like what I would do, but probably better.

I gotta say, armchair PDs, some not-so-good ideas on this thread so far. Let 'em go for a while and see what they do.

Why do they need to be less rythmic than AMP, LA??

i like it so far im from boston and used to listen to good old krock i am sad that there gone but i like this music as well i wish boston had a station like this i guess the cc powerhouse kiss 108 is close but now just plays the hits and kiss strays once ina while although rare and throws in a bonjovi song now and then good luck i hope they can overthrow ??? ??? z100 11if not maybe they will bring m krock back ??? ???

Minus the repeats, I am feeling it, I managed to pick 92.3 up by the water gap and heard it all the way to Monmouth County. (except parts where I can pick up Pulse 87 which was from Route 280 towards the Parkway down until the Raritan Bay)

As far as attacking competitors, when Radio Now launched in Indianapolis in early 2000 they were constantly bashing Heritage CHR WZPL,,,,, well, Radio Now stole all their younger Demo and forced WZPL into first a Rock Leaning Modern AC, and then into a Hot AC, or Adult Top 40 with no hip hop..... 92.3 has a better signal than Z,,, ive often lost the signal to Z-100 and KTU about 30 miles south by the New Jersey Turnpike,,, then again, one summer in like 99 I heard Z-100 and KTU in Indiana due to Sporatic E skip...

Z100 has a 100.3 in Philly and KTU has WPRB at 103.3 interfering with them. Indiana's quite close for e-skip, so it must have been a strong e-skip opening. I think Z100 and KTU are good 40 miles south on the NJ Turnpike. 92.3's good 60-70 miles south. In fact, you sometimes hear the 92.3 in Baltimore interfering with Now 92.3 in south NJ.

Agreed. Pretty Good List ;)
