First JACK in Florida!

Jack Garrett said:
After getting emails for the past two years asking for JACK to come play in the Sunshine State, today WGNX/Vero Beach flipped to 99.7 JACK-FM (new calls are WJKD).

Florida, known as a place to live for people in the closing years of their life. Now Jack is in Florida. Hmmmm.

Oh please, you've got to be kidding me.

You must be desperate.

::)

Whats wrong SW, did the Florida Tourism Department refuse your request for running those 2,000 spots on your
AM daytimer for a #3 McMeal trade? You could probably use a little sunshine. It helps stimulate the brain, among
other things.... ;D

I didn't know the sun can stimulate the brain. Interesting :D

I don't think Steppenwolf gets sun though. He keeps his head stuck in the sand all the time. No, sand is outside, so he stays in his cave under a computer desk.

It is most probably an ABC Jack. Vero Beach is market #100, and IIRC ABC shall be used at market 40 and below.

Nashville is local. I believe it's the only one from market 40 and down. CJ, that's right isn't it?
I know it was once correct.

It is a shock that it took this long for FL to join in on the fun. You'd think Panama City or
Destin/Fort Walton Beach radio brains would have put on at least one Jack in those two markets
with no less than 8,000 signals. ;D

Well, it wasn't because we didn't want them! ;D
Jackson, MS (#122), Indianapolis (#41), Fresno (#66) & Nashville (#44) are local.

What do you mean by local? The jack station in Indy only runs canned voicers. There's no personality, no local involvement. It's a jukebox.

i have only been on this board a short time but if u hate the JACK format so much why do u spend so much time bitching about it? did u lose your overnight weekend shift to a JACK station or something

I've wondered that myself.

I doubt he was canned at a Jack station, probably some weak AM station in the middle of nowhere.

The Jack in Indy is locally produced with a local PD and MD. ABC Jacks such as 99.7 are produced by a 3 meter dish, Starguide III, and various automation systems.

See the difference?

Even if the Indy jack has a PD and MD who actually work here locally, it doesn't affect its on-air sound. Radio's strength is its personal nature. Canned voicers & no local involvement render a local MD/PD useless. There's nothing personal about a jukebox.
