Hey, what's wrong with NOT having a logo on the screen throughout every broadcast? The worst local logo is KING-5 and KONG-6 with its every-30-seconds twist and twirl. I mean, really, what the hell is that for? The more visual garbage you see on the screen, the more I think the people who run those channels really have a low self-esteem issue they're dealing with. Or they aren't convinced that anyone is watching unless they see dancing graphics. It was especially discouraging to see stuff popping up every ten minutes or so in the middle of Ken Burns' visually stunning documentaries on PBS.
If the honchos can take a moment to remember what each broadcast is actually about, maybe the inappropriate and distracting vsual clutter might start to be reduced, as it appears is being mentioned here with KOMO-TVs newscasts. I think the national network newscasts are starting to look like a biker with too many tattoos. Just 'cuz CNN does it doesn't mean you should! Heck, we know what channel we're watching, and it's not as it the news set itself doesn't tell you.
The latest trend that throws in millisecond white strobe flashes in the middle of everything is driving me away from KING-5 newscasts and a lot of other stuff on TV. What, are they trying to give me a seizure on the big screen, or to make sure I don't fall asleep at 11:40pm?? Jeez, I got me a bad case of the jitters from watching promos and commericals on TV! I wonder how subliminally it's affecting other viewers?
