Yes, it was a great reply. No deflection, no obfuscation. There's really nothing you said that bears me reiterating myself. You think unintelligent radio is a good escape for people. I think it isn't. I think commercial radio has been used from the top down to squelch creative thought and original opinions. We have a difference of opinion, that's all. However, I thought swearing was prohibited on the boards...

I didn't say "unintelligent" radio...you did. Even so, I don't think you can hold radio stations (much less, Top 40 stations) accountable for kids not knowing what the debt ceiling is. That's your own personal bias, and I would even go as far as saying that you're probably out-of-work and washed up. Therefore, your opinion of what makes radio good, or great, is not all that important.

And in the interest of you volunteering to play the part of Word Police, I will try my darndest to not transmit offensive potty words in your general direction.

I guess it would hurt your feelings if I told you I wasn't out of work and washed up, so I won't. I've been working in radio here in Tampa for awhile, so yes, I do think I have a better grasp of what makes good radio than you do, because you're clearly missing the big picture here. The big picture is that radio is in bad shape these days, Mason was right, "Radio ate itself". By appealing to the lowest common denominator, that's what you get. Believe it or not there are still a lot of intelligent Americans out there, and the crap on the radio around here is so bad it's insulting to our intelligence. You dig?

By the way, I do hold Top 40 stations partly accountable for kids not knowing anything vauleable these days. I also hold pretty much every other radio station accountable as well. These major broadcast outlets have been spoon feeding us pablum for awhile. As I said, all we have here is a difference of opinion, you like the status quo, I don't. No need to get bent out of shape, old man.

As for the swearing, it doesn't offend me, I just try to play by the rules here.
