If this is true, it was probably a cost cutting move. Who's next? This might be the time when a lot of personalities you come a custom to will be gone.

Daggum! How long was he there? At least twenty years?

Who's Next???

They're ALL next!!!!!!!

The ratings at that station DO NOT compare favorably with the salaries. (specifically AM and PM Drive)
You could easily get the same ratings while paying probably a third of the salary.
The ratio of revenue to expenditure IS ALL THAT MATTERS to a large ownership group like Entercom.
This is only the beginning.

I also noticed they took down the dj blog link on the website, too. The blogs had not been up for long. Does anyone know if he has a myspace account?

I am sure we all wish Mr. Gundlach the best. He was always a straight shooter with me, and I appreciate it.

DE

Yeah, they have some of the pages deleted, others not. Garner's is gone.

I'm with you on the best wishes, DE

I first met Steve...WB Tanner's studios on Diana street (the old frame houses) in <winces> 1978. He was doing production there and working part time at WHBQ. Dang, we're old!

Definitely Conley is out. More coming by end of week. Could be a sad sad week for folks at 1960 Union. Whoever's left better get their cowboy boots now.

How do you know that more cuts are coming by week's end? And how do you know it's gonna be Hee Haw 100?? Senator, name your sources!! ;D

it's my understanding Garner is gone as are numerous behind the scenes folks including Terry Woods. Heard someone from 93 is gone too. welcome to the monopoly that is morning radio. what if they put Kraddick on FM 100. would it not flourish for a pittance of the cost?

Yeah, they want that 1-share that Kraddick provided. ::)

Buzz is gone because it needed to go. FM 100 is still very strong in it's target demos, WMBZ was not. I explained in the other thread why FM 100 will still survive. Read it, students.

Oh...so they flip FM100 to Hee Haw and then put Kraddick on in the morning? He barely moved the needle on the Buzz......why would they throw him on an even bigger signal? If Entercom's gonna successfully
take on Kix, they'll have to do it with all guns a-blazin'....and that means a full, local staff.

Not quite ready to bow down and do the humble student thing just ye, DK. Why kill a morning show that is supposedly making all that money? This may be a few months or more in the making. Today may have just been the start. I was in that building for 7 years, and no one ever disputed that FM 100 never has lived up to its full potential. Let those demos slip a little more...

My point is that Kraddick is a GOOD shwo. a lot of money is poured into it and it shows. i could care less if the show is here or somewhere else MOST of the time. kraddick didn't do well because it was on a failing station that spent NO money on advertising. put it on a station that's doing well and it would do the same. i hate to see local people lose jobs but if these stations won't put in the money to match syndicated then they must go. even if you don't like Kraddick it makes sense. same could be said for Q 107.5 and sydicating their AM. better yet, leave Kraddick on 94.1 and, believe it or not, advertise the damn station.

Not yet, 'saur... ;D

Besides, if they let Olson go, THAT would be killing the show. Conley leaving is just a major tweak. No offense. Ron is still there, and so is Karen.

Besides, WRVR blew out Steve Butler, and didn't skip a beat. No reason to suspect things will be any different here with Conley's exit.

And no, groled, Kraddick was not a good show. at least not good enough to draw ratings. Brand and Dana had some numbers, and last I checked, they were also on The Buzz too. So it wasn't the station, in that respect. The audience didn't like him, 'nuff said. The rest of your post made no sense.

No. Kraddick did not succeed here. It may or may not be a good show, but it didn't succeed. Fact is, FM100's morning show STILL does extremely well in 25-44W. Far higher ratings than Kraddick. Entercom
is thinking they can still have a solid morning show on FM100 but without having to pay Conley's salary.
Kraddick does well in Dallas but he doesn't do well in most of the other markets he's on in. It may or
may not be a ''better'' show than FM100's, but book in and out, WMC waaaaaay outperformed the Buzz.
That's why you're hearing Donna Summer and MC Hammer at 94.1. Will Olsen stay put? We'll see. Maybe
not. But he outlasted Kraddick because he had consistently BETTER ratings.
