FM coverage - Piestewa Peak

...Lauren, did you do any AM listening while "peaked out" up at the top?

Ancient modulation (I bet Akbar wishes he trademarked that ;D) is normally
elevation-neutral....

...but we do have a trademark on "Ancient Modulation" and our attorneys will be in touch with you shortly ::)

Nurse Jeff and I can't figure out why there are so many questions about receiving Anciently Modulated stations atop the Peak formerly known as Squaw. KLL was checking out FM and FM-HD with her big bucks boom box radio. We're sure all those rimshots with spotty reception for us flatlanders were comin' in loud and clear in the rareified air. So knock off the AM questions already 'cause we're beginning to think some of you are like Mayor Philiberto and his Aural Fixation with a certain Colombiana

A few years back, KIIM got a 0.4 in the Phoenix arbitron. So it is evidently not too difficult to hear Tucson FMs in the Phoenix metro.

...and thanks to PPM, a Phoenix meter wearer can motor down to the old Pueblo for a week and some of those stations could possibly show in a monthly. The March Phoenix ratings show listenerhearership of both KMGN, Flagstaff and KKLD, Tucson. Yet KPHX fails to show again and again and again..etc

Don't forget, this is the best time of the year for sporadic E skip. When 'E' is in, it's possible to hear FM signals from over 1,000 miles away.

Somewhere, I have a tape that I recorded from Minnesota when I was 16 years old (1980.) Both KDKB "93 KDKB Mesa-Phoenix ROCKS Arizona!" and KUPD/97.9 are on that tape. If I can find it, I'll post it with my other airchecks on RadioGeekHeaven.com.
