Up the dial one to 100.7. What’s that frequency like (or what was it like before the onslaught of 80-90s, translators and LPFMs?).
In East Tennessee, it’s currently a fight between W264CJ (WKXV-900) and WBGQ, Bulls Gap TN, serving the Lakeway area between Knoxville and the Tri-Cities.
Retro/other: Dayton, Ohio: Always WEEC, Springfield, OH, a long-time Christian station going back as far as I can remember. During remnants of Hurricane Ike, which blew 75 mph winds through Southwestern Ohio and took out most of the power grid (some customers were without power for over 2 weeks), WEEC was one of the unlucky ones that spend a few days off the air. That gave southwest Ohio DXers, including me, a rare chance to hear WMMS, Cleveland. I also managed to snag WCYO, Irvine KY briefly during the storm (though I’m not sure how).
Lafayette IN---Either WMGI, Terre Haute or WBYT, Elkhart IN.
Retro DX Clip of the week: KATM, Pueblo, CO with E-Skip reception in 1987.
