We're reviewing reception conditions on the FM frequencies that were formerly known as the Class B/C frequencies.
What do you---or did you---get on 98.1
East Tennessee: WFGW (106.7, sister to powerhouse WMIT, Black Mountain NC) translator W251BR. Before that, 98.1 was reasonably open, except for a pirate in South Knoxville that played 80s music on what sounded like a CD changer. Before that, it was a tossup among WBUL, Lexington "The Bull", CHR WHZT, Williamson, SC and WLND, Signal Mountain TN (less often).
E-Skip heard in East Tennessee: The Classical station in the Bahamas made an appearance on my car radio in Sevierville in July 2016. A very brief appearance by a Radio Reloj transmitter in Cuba (15 seconds) in Knoxville in July 2012 (same opening produced the Caymans on 104.1).
Still UNID from 2015: Very young sounding female DJ, Southern New England's Country.
Retro/other: Dayton, OH area: WUDR, Dayton, OH in parts of town. WBUL (the former WKQQ) made pretty frequent appearances, even as far north as the Celina, OH area, especially before WDFM came on the air. Also logged WIBN, Earl Park IN.
Lafayette, IN: I don't remember much until WIBN flipped from 98.3 to a higher powered signal on 98.1. (I visited them when they were indeed in Earl Park on 98.3. The station was in a dilapated old school building with broken windows.
Retro DX clip of the week: KLRG, Lawton, OK from 1975: http://46124.info/FM/Oklahoma/OK Lawton 98.1 1975 KRLG.mp3
