Trouble is, other than issue position, the shows are too similar to Rush in style and approach--they often take on the same issues but just take different positions. You need something more irreverent, more challenging to everyone's assumptions, and also more liberally (pun intended) laced with humor, to draw a 25-54 audience these days.
Randy Rhodes COULD be such a host. Ed Schultz works better, IMHO, as a TV host because he can use the scenes of angry protest as a backdrop and become a crusader--something that makes compelling TV and seems to be succeeding for MSNBC.
If the left wants to make an impact on radio it needs to do the same kind of iconoclatic, humor-tinged talk that it does so successfully on television.
