FM Talk Returns to NW FL

I'm listening to 93.7 - RDS says KICKIN' but it looks like we have an FM talker that serves north of here. Not too sure what the calls are but, I' now hearing C2C AM.

They ID as 105.3 the wiregras's new's leader..

Okay I take that back Yep Rob is right (my bad) I hread Kickin 93.7 is simulcast thier sister station 105.3

As of 12:00 AM Central time, 5/10/2011, the station is now on a simulcast of it's sister station 105.3 FM. KICKIN country has been removed. Probably due to the area is saturated with country stations.

It's not a significant factor because of 94.3 WIZB Abbeville, which covers most of the Dothan market. I'm sure especially to the south of Dothan, a good receiver could pull in 94.5. 93.7 was an FM talker prior to the "Kickin' Country" format.

I know but it blankets FL so I put it on the FL board. There's already a thread on the AL board. Crestview, Defuniak Springs and then some (as a certain DJ on 104.7 says it) now has an FM talk they can listen to.

Yes, I edited the wiki. There's no photo for the current page. Earlier last night it was country, about 12 am it was coast to coast.

Man, I haven't been to Dothan since the 90's but I truly doubt WFLF 94.5 reaches any people north of the Alabama state line.
Both of Panama City's FM talkers have poor coverage of I-10 while Gretna's 93.7 (WUSD?) has great coverage of I-10. 101.1 barely reaches any of I-10 while WFLA 94.5 covers less than an hour of the drive, assuming I'm willing to listen to lots of static. On the same note, Dothan's 105.3 doesn't cover any significant stretch of I-10. 93.7's flip back to talk will make my trips from P'cola to Tallahassee go by faster... Crystal clear FM talk for 90 minutes, all the way from Milton to Sneads.
I'm happy they flipped back... will be checking it out Friday.

Ahhh! Refreshing to see your sincere, intellectual tolerence stated above by embracing a fellow American's right to offer perhaps an opposing view even from that of your own, even more chillingly --- broadcast on a brutally controlled FCC signal. Thanks for being so warm, accepting and allowing for free speech. You indeed sound like a progressive, open-minded, intelligent "live an let live" type person that would respect the right to say only what you believe. It's all about peace, love, inclusion. Right? Hug. Thanks for allowing even me to share my thoughts and thank yous for such a fair, profound riveting statement.

I wonder what they will do to 105.3 WDBT-FM after they tells everyone that newstalk moves to the 100,000 watts 93.7 dail. R they going to flip something else on 105.3 or still have 105.3 and 93.7 stick with newstalk. Most newstalk here in the southeast like WFLA-FM 100.7 Tallahassee is also 11,500 watts. These days when I listren to WFLA's Tallahassee I get Tampa's Mix 100.7 overlap the Tallahassee's singal.

I lean leftward myself, but I have to say, that response was excellent! ;D

Tibbs has a gift for sarcasm. It comes from too many years behind a mike watching misguided radio execs racking up lengthy streaks of wrong decisions and otherwise f***ing up perfectly good radio stations.

But speaking of such wrong-headed calls, the 93.7 situation sorta fits that criteria. Not because of any political slant, but because of the apparent lack of imagination.

How many conservative talk stations does South Alabama need? How many Country stations? How many Classic Rockers? How many of whatever format can one set of listeners absorb before the audience starts to think that all radio sounds the same?

It's what I call the "Chinese Restaurant Problem." The first Chinese restaurant in Dothan no doubt kicked ass. The second and third may have done alright. But the 20th Chinese restaurant in Dothan would draw yawns. The 50th?

I never said right wing nut job talk hosts don't have the right to express their right wing nut job opinions. Can we call that a typical right wing nut job interpretation ?

At least north of us has a station they can listen to.. how about letting it be OUR turn? Or, are we going to be stuck with attempting to listen to WFTW with the beam aimed east whilest Mexico, and other full powered stations on 1.260 Khz jam it.

I can see a few stations here.

I'd be happy if *** bought 98.1 then they could move 105.5 to 98.1 and make Talk radio 105.5 FM WFTW.. No one here seems to really listen to us so I'll be an XM sub so I can listen to Coast because 96.1-2 doesn't always come here esp during skip.

98.1 tends to have a problem with one song in stereo, next one in mono. I can even hear it in the car. Whoever runs that needs to fix that as someone mentioned on here as this switch didn't make too many people excited. I can't wait for the fall ratings. That is, if we survive May 21'st (sarcastic grin)

Was just havin a little fun at your expense, radiobum. But, please, in a good way, interprete it anyway you decide to twist it. :) But, may I suggest that may that twist be a twist of lime in a glass of Hendrick's Gin, with us at Capt. Anderson's. Company to include a certain redneck, a given in-gineer and of course rob from Navarre.

(CCENG - I NEED to be back in the gin again. I've found all the unhealthy food again...time for a little change in course to something more beneficial.)

Tibbs... I done told you to get your arse down here so we can go to Capt Anderson's.....bill there is already taken care of if you get my drift ;)
