Ford Reconsiders, Now Keeping AM Radio

Sorry, what does this have to do with AM radio being kept in Ford vehicles?
I mean, he’s comparing what we charitably assume was a real-life high school experience back when French was being taught by Napoleon to a fictional TV show for teens.

So, the answer is clearly, everything. 🤣

God only knows what possessed me, but I went looking and found that the general consensus of fans is that the fictional Riverdale is on the west side of the Tappan Zee bridge over the Hudson River, in Rockland County (which apparently gets mentioned in the show, and there is only one Rockland County in the United States).

So, assuming that's correct as can be for a place that doesn't really exist, it's 33 miles from midtown Manhattan and 485 miles from Quebec.

More I-can't-believe-I-bothered-knowledge: The show is actually shot in British Columbia.
And much like the Chevy Bolt, Riverdale is also going away next year….

With the maple syrup industry, and the fact that a lot of CW shows are filmed in Canada, I had assumed it was farther north.

I have this memory of someone going across the border and maybe that's what I'm thinking about.
I can't even begin to try to comprehend this.

Thank God for Google Translate (which is what I said often during my three weeks in France last year). I'm going back in two months and I'm clearly not ready.
I wish I was going this year but that's not going to happen especially with a relocation project that's taken some very unexpected twists.

And, no, Riverdale isn't involved. Nor is maple syrup. (Maple syrup?!?!)

Kars-for-Kids is a mainstay on KCBS, and I usually turn down the volume when I hear it because it gets kind of boring

Total coincidence---this weekend, Curbside Classic, a somewhat below-the-radar site dedicated to classic cars (mostly) of the variety you find parked on the street, took a look at some of the surprising vehicles that get donated to Kars 4 Kids:

Okay they don't play this particular ad on AM radios found in Ford vehicles; but lately, I find the TV ad for Jardience, the one with gawd awful mini-musical, dance-in-the-fake-street even more annoying than Kars For Kids. Find myself running for the mute button on the TV remote each time it comes on.

I've heard that one. It is quite annoying, isn't it?

I don't run for the mute button when I hear it, but I won't race in to see it every time it's on, either (it plays on the Hallmark channel (a channel I don't ordinarily watch, except they broadcast a couple older murder mystery shows I like during the overnight hours) at least once during every commercial break, which means I hear it far more often than I would like).

There's also those Colonial Penn life insurance commercials that are boring (they've played one in particular so often for so long (going back to at least 2018) that I can almost recite it verbatim by memory!

The Kars for Kids spots are definitely annoying. Jardience is a bad one, too.

I also strongly dislike nearly every commercial I've seen in the past decade for Buick. That music bed is the worst, rivaled by the insipid lines spewed by the actors (e.g. "That's so you!").

It's supposed to be "That's so U," as in "bUick." Every time one of those is shoved down my throat, I say "That's so ICK." 🤪 🤮

To me the name Buick sounds like someone is throwing up: BUUUIIICK!!! 🤮
It was a person's surname, of course.

And in Latin America, it has usually been called a "Bweek" which is how it sounds in a phonetic language-

JMO. Nothing is as bad as the Kars For Kids commercial. Cannot hit the mute button fast enough when that comes on. If that gets into your head, it'll take about three weeks to get it out. Horrible earworm. The worst.😬 Just my opinion. -- D
