To clarify one issue here, yes I spoke DIRECTLY with CLIENTS whom I had built up relationships with over the years who asked me questions because they were "misinformed" as to my departure by members of the station. I tried to speak with people from management about it to clarify the matter, and was turned away, but they were sure quick to remind me that I had that beloved NO COMPETE CLAUSE that kept me off the air for a time. There was a public post on a web site from a member of management blatently lying saying that I was not terminated, but in fact I left ON MY OWN ACCORD and that all rumors stating otherwise were false. So no, you do not know all the details. Management was indeed in full C.Y.A. mode.

As to whatever your opinions of me are, that really does not matter a lot to me. I know who I am as a person and so do my close friends. Ask jff110 or Pat Kain, or Ted Simpson or Mak himself what they think of me...they all know me and we seem to get along fine. But yes when I was with the station, we had some nice numbers and I was also told that there was some concern over "advertiser concerns" if word leaked out that I was cut loose. I assure you that the SPIN MACHINE was in full swing and there was so much flying around that Bill O'Reilly would have whiplash!

My point is, boards like this serve a nice purpose becase any time someone leaves, or is fired or otherwise exits the building there will be all kinds or stories flying around from all sides. I think people like to have an opportunity to fish through the "muck" to get to the bottom of things and I think as long as we do not cross the line by getting into personal details, thats just fine.

Besides that, we really have nothing else to talk about...can't talk radio because other than 3-WZ, G101 and the Buzz, everyone else here works for one company and really is not about to say things to slam their own employer right???

The only Spin Machine that is/was in full swing is the one you are using now...I know people who have MUCH different stories about the demise of the Hitman back in the day.

The Rev...errr...G101 must really be proud of the way you handle yourself and represent them on this board!

Hitman, since you are OBVIOUSLY the local radio authority I bet you are really busy so I have decided to help you write a book to help get the consulting business off the ground...here are a few of the Chapter titles:

"Outdated nicknames and other tricks from the early 90's"
"The art of the dead segue"
"Record your music in mono because audio quality doesn't matter"
"Use a voice guy that was used on a station 40 miles away, ten years before because THAT really matters to the listener!"

I'll start writing, ok?

Calm down, son. I didn't make a claim of knowing any details, just pointing out I remembered your departure.

Again, calm down, son. I don't have an opinion of you unless you'd like me to form one based on your present tone. I'm guessing you're in about your 30's now, still in that insecure stage. Don't make claims to not have any, everyone does. Might be nice to come to terms with that huge letdown from years ago though.

I think a better idea would be to not talk about one's employer at all. I had 25+ years at Corning before they shut us down and fortunately, I was able to just retire. But never would I have written about my employer on a board like this had they existed at the time. But we also never SPOKE poorly of them either except among family and close confidants at work, and never while AT work. Always off the premises. Our job loss was so public and that's probably why this topic honked me off.

And you...got a new name on here didn't you? Because you are the same person who talks (BLEEP) about shilton quite a bit. I miss the days when men would settle these things like men, over a beer.

I've been reading this stream with great interest. There is quite a difference
of opinion concerning ownership & upper management and it's treatment of
air staff in your region. And I'm assuming these posts come from current on-air
people, their spouses or those who once were on-air. One thing thats being missed is the fact that, to ownership, on-air people are cattle. When the time
comes to cut expenses, where do they look? On-air. All the major developments
in studio hardware in the past 10 years has made it possible to get the job
done with fewer people and the unfortunate subject of the first posting of this
stream is just the latest to lose a job. Bicker all you want amongst yourselves
or sing the praises of how a certain owner or GM is such a great guy, but when
your position is on the bubble, how many owners or GMs will retain your job
because YOU are a "great guy?" You may be treated fine while you are employed
but don't be deceived that you have any security. I've been on both sides of this equation with several companies and I can say that Forever is one of the worst I've seen.

What do you mean "new name"? I have had the same name since I signed up!!

By the way, I would have a beer with shilton but he has insulted too many people I know and am friends with to have a beer with him. Most people in this business are at war with the competition but when the mic is off (face to face or on a message board)they are not, they are friendly towards each other, he obviously isn't one of those people, actions that are quite questionable for a "consultant."

He uses the fact that he uses his real name as some sort of excuse to insult people and their hard work, that is bull(BEEP). I guess I am just here to open HIS eyes to his inability as he does so often for everyone else.

Oh man...now you've gone and done it....now you have joined the ranks of the owner bashers! I shall move over on my pedestal...there is room for a few of us up here.

Sorry...could not resist. People tell me to get over myself...perhaps they need to get over themselves instead. (If you cannot see into the sarcasm in about 90% of my posts, perhaps you need to good lesson in developing a SENSE OF HUMOR)

I have always been one to call them like I see them. Maybe my vision is distored....but I seem to know a lot of friends who have had a bad experience in this town is all I am saying!

Hell, I never claimed to be the second coming of Howard Stern. If I were, I am sure I would not be sitting here in State College, PA. But I do think I handle myself ok with a MIC as well and I think there is nothing wrong with a little self confidence either. I bet lots of others in this town feel the same way about themselves on air, but just are not saying so on this forum.

If the most spirited radio discussion you have on this board is to bash me and wait for me to "fall"...too bad for you. I FELL years ago. I was at the top of my game and I know I will not be up there again any time soon. Now I am only doing this for the fun of it. Somehow I think that is what drives some people so nuts...I am a 30 something old-time dj who refuses to grow up and act my age...now I ask you...is that so bad?

By the way, behind the mic, you are my rivals. I know some of you outside of the station and I treat you very well up close and personal the way it should be. We are all the same in many ways, so don't think I am too good to have a beer with you or chat with you, etc...Maybe you are just passing judgement without knowing all the facts.

I'm none of the above you mentioned but I do agree with you about ownership and upper management.

I worked with a lot of great guys for more than two decades and when it cost less to do our jobs over in China, it didn;t matter if we were great guys or a bunch of dickheads.

I'd say Dame Broadcasting holds THAT "honor" here, in Williamsport, in Johnstown and in Harrisburg as well...except for maybe Gary Chrisman on KISS-FM in Williamsport. Last I heard, he was still having semi-regular lunches and dinners with Al Dame.

Son, you take this stuff way too seriously. Perhaps it's best for you to take a time out and give yourself a break.
