Format Change Coming To 95.5 PGC?

DCRTV says that Big Tigger will make a "big announcement" today at 5:55 PM. I bet it doesn't have anything to do with bringing "Big Winnie the Pooh" to 'PGC...

I dont believe Anji Corley was let go, I heard her talking on the air today. She was on in Michele Wright's place from 10am-2pm...and she will be on again tomorrow in that time. Does anybody know if Michele Wright is done?

Well, considering how idiotic CBS is these days when it comes to well-rated talent you would never know. Word was Michel wasn't happy with the lack of control of her playlist during her daypart like Donnie Simpson. Anji Corley isn't new to the midday thing, she was the midday personality on WAMO before it went jockless in last summer prior to it going silent. However, Michel Wright also does a number of voice spots locally in the DMV and nationally as well as hosting a neo-soul radio show on Sirius XM, so she isn't hurting for a job.

Am I the only one who notices that KYS is largely influencing what PGC plays, while KYS marches to the beat of their own drum. Perfect examples, Black Eyed Peas "Imma Be", Trey Songz "You Belong To Me", Keri Hilson "Slow Dance", Young Money "Steady Mobbin". Im confident when I say PGC wouldn't have added these songs if KYS did not add them first. PGC has been playing it way too safe. However, now that I have noticed the dayparting, I don't hate their playlist as much I did.

It's pretty clear these days that is who is setting the tone for WPGC. Jay Stevens programs WKYS, thus leading to what WPGC plays as a reaction. Until somebody original and trendsetting as the former talent that made WPGC legendary comes back then what you see is what you will get with that station from here on out.

I was reading DCRTV and I saw the 12+ numbers and the 25 and up numbers. PGC is really getting creamed in just about all dayparts. KYS is sounding even better now. You can tell Jay is working with Neke. Could it be the end of the urban formatted PGC if the Tigger morning show doesn't work? What format do you think they would flip too?

Disk Jockey's do not make music policy. Donnie Simpson was no Disk Jockey. That was a show. There's a HUGE difference.

Donnie was a Program Director at WKYS at one time correct? How much influence do you think he had on Jay Stevens programming when he joined the PGC family?

Uh I already know this. However, CBS allowed their more prominent WPGC personalities at the time when they station was one of the nation's top billers have some creative input on their dayparts. It was subtle deviations such as spinning more old school songs, more R&B, or in other cases more hip-hop songs that weren't included in the regular playlist.

For some reason, I really think the world would end before CBS flips PGC. I mean if PGC gets flipped, the obvious choice is Top 40 (unfortunately). What I just want is for PGC to add some more rhythmic tracks into their playlist, I don't think that's too much to ask for. Maybe CBS will force PGC to go more rhythmic like Hot 93.7 WZMX if their ratings don't improve?

Well, WPGC already outdoes WZMX in top spins of songs weekly, so it would be common sense for them to just add Rhythmic tracks while maintaining their urban contemporary programming core of R&B-heavy middays and slow jams at night after 10pm.

As PGC has moved more Urban/Urban AC I noticed that KYS has become more Rhythmic. When I monitored KYS they were playing the Black Eyed Peas which really surprised me. The music on KYS was super familiar even to a non-P1 Urban listener..they played many songs that crossed over to Top 40. I'm not sure if this is in reaction to the changes at PGC or if they adjusted their music for what works with PPM..but it must be working since they a good March.

I was thinking the same with PGC but they seem to have reduced some of the spins on gogo music which kind of gives me an idea that the PD probably ain't going to be interested. I think they are very focused on the hits and some throwbacks...proven and safe. Hot 99.5 on the other hand is playing house. I hear a lot with Chris Styles on Saturday nights. Its more on the electro side and pop remixes but its house. Why not hit them up them up with a show proposal.

On WPGC, blame Michael Saunders whom seemed to created a rhythmic mess of PGC's sister station, WJHM. Instead in DC, he has entrapped PGC in the realm of urban hits and throwbacks when it was the rhythmic lean to its urban core that made it successful...
