All Access is reporting that 95.5 PGC might go CHR in the coming weeks.

I'm thinking more CHR/Rhythmic. Some places they are still Tagged as such They may shift to actually match that tag.
name change? 95.5 Now FM?

Only took a year and a half for them to actually move back Rhythmic. No name change though.

OK, Anji Corley out on middays, and Sunny aka "Sunshyne" is now there from 10AM-2PM. Also Danella is gone from the "Big Tigger Morning Show". It just seems like there are shuffling out all the full-time black female personalities @ WPGC except Rayne on "The Home Team". Do they really think this is going to work????

Rhythmic-leaning urban format shouldn't equate to fewer black female on-air personalities, just ask sister station WJHM "102 Jamz" how is that working for them now in ratings up against Urban AC WCFB & Rhythmic WPYO...

@Kilamanjero i really do not think that it will really matter about Anji Corley or Danella Sunni sounds good to me and we will see who join`s Big Tig. Most Rhythmic/urban stations do have at least one white air personality remember Albie Dee(fat white guy). I think that this is a non issue.

I noticed that the midday mix is gone now but heard a gogo mix Sunday night. Lot of tweaking going on. Tigger's show doesn't seem to be overtaking Russ Parr though in the PPMs.

Anybody know how Lil Mo is doing against radio vet Easy Street?

Does Albie Dee still occasionally fill-ins on weekends anymore? Last time I heard him on air was the summer of 2009. Also he does a talk radio show on some other station in the market. I enjoy Sunni as well, and remember her from WJLB in Detroit, but it's just seems to be a theme these days with CBS "churbans" to do that. Black females 25-34 year olds are the core demographic that usually helps land stations like WPGC in the top 5 if they programmed for their station right. That's actually what made 'PGC the market leader was the dayparting towards black females during morning, middays, and 10pm to midnight, thus overtaking WHUR and Majic in the core demographic group breakdowns and overall 18+ numbers. I understand winning over the 18-34 and the crossover audience, but the 25-34 year olds are more loyal and spends more (TSL) overall in all dayparts.

Last time I looked she was still battling to be in the top 3 in the afternoons in demographic breakdown.

Yeah, "Go-Go 95" is back on Sunday nights as the "local music" programming on the station. I believe DJ Heat is hosting it once again since the "106 & Park Countdown" wasn't cutting it in that time slot.

WPGC used to be the master of the diary books but as is the case with station`s that were masters of the diary they have had to adjust to PPM. WGCI,HOT 97,POWER 1051(NY),POWER 99 (PHILLY), all were number one stations at one point or another with the old system. However PGC seems to be moving up a little bit since December returning to its Urban/CHR roots and 18 jams in a row. With these PPM`S i do not think that they will ever be number 1 again but they can still make a ton of cash and not be flipped. Note: can we remove this thread WPGC most likely will not be flipped it is still making a lot of money as it is.Albie Dee no longer has any association with WPGC.

Jason Kidd to WPGC as APD...hhhhmmmmm ????

I guess they are going to go back to having one urban programmer and a rhythmic programmer on staff to balance out the urban-rhythmic crossover presentation of the station.

Jason Kidd to PGC as APD is an interesting move lets see what he has to offer as far as the stations sound. Since December WPGC has gone up in the ratings so they must like the early results of the return to the Urban/CHR format.

I have to say this even if PGC decided to change formats it definitely is really putting on a fight. They are not sitting by and letting KYS or Hot 99.5 run away with things. The Jason Kidd move, Sunni and the changes and tweaking in the sound of the station are major moves. Now KYS...what's KYS/Neke/Jay Stevens next move....

@Quietboy i really do not think that CBS will outright flip PGC i think that they are tweeking it. I think that they are aiming for a CHR with a HEAVY Urban lean. If you look at the PPM WPGC has one of the highest CUME numbers in the Washington market which means that they still have a ton of listiners. The station still hits CBS BOTTOM LINE thats why we are now going on 3 years with this will WPGC go to AMP radio. Ask Baltimore CBS has no problem DUMPING Urban formats i think that after 3 years its time to give the flip talk up. Again since Dec. WPGC has seen there AQH get better again the CUME is good for the station(its why the station still sounds like an urban station).

I'm starting to wonder if the magic concept "dayparting" is coming back into the equation of WPGC programming? This might be something very much needed in the late nights from 10pm-midnight as well as midnight-2am. The song selection during "The Coolout" is still off although it has improved since last summer when they were spinning songs like uptempo songs "Ride" by Ciara during the slow jams show. I might want to consider what sister station "Hot 93.7" is doing with their "Late Night Love" show on song selection.

Also what happened to the midday mix with DJ Titan?

I noticed that to. No midday mix. Is Hot 99.5 doing a midday mix?

donta1974 I think you are right. As long as PGC brings in the money it will not be changed. I am curious to see what KYS's next move is. Magic now has DJ Rico doing mixes for the the station.

The Midday mix concept is kinda outdated now to me i understand PGC is trying to change things up a little bit by dropping that feature. It might return however (Dj Titan is still on thier Dj staff) they should let the listners decide.

My thing is any mix show that varies from the usual power songs is actually a good thing since it might offer more of a song variety. However, WPGC is one of the few stations that airs nearly 8 hours of mixing on weekends.
