Format Change Happening at 93.3 on Friday at Noon

Interesting so I thought I would share...

I've noticed that i93hits.com has been registered with ENOM, Inc. All Cumulus domoains are registered with that as well...

All Access is reporting that the call letters will be changed to KLIF-FM.

Wikipedia - "The call letters KLIF achieved recognition in radio broadcasting through the efforts of Gordon McLendon. The station which formerly broadcast music and talk on 1190 AM, was Dallas' and one of the nation's biggest Top 40 radio stations. It virtually defined 1950s and 1960s Top 40 radio. Playing Top 40 music during the 1950s and 1960s, it achieved an over 50 share, an unparalleled ratings success."

At the bottom of the "stunting" is the Top40 segment. And of course everyone notices the reference to the "legends"...The Legendary KLIF would be back alive with the "Top40" music. I really doubt a 50 share would be possible again.

And of course the I in KLIF would go nicely with i93, eh?

This is a shame..Bujt honestly..I have trouble hearing 93.3 on a good quality radio sometimes in the Haltom City/North Ft Worth Area. Gets blocked by 93.7 Knor (Spanish)

I'm on board with everything you are saying but can you explain the Batman drops?

Humm..maybe Scott Shannon's True Oldies format like WLS-FM in Chicago?

Everyone was let go because they will be simulcasting The Ticket and you do not need all the personal to pick up the feed.

I hope I am wrong...but am willing to bet I am not...do hope Philpot is right....

Could the Legends they are referring to be Musers and Hardline? They are legends in the market!

It's going to be Top 40, why do you think they're stunting all this music for? KLIF used to play these songs back in the day.

well, I wouldn't know about what KLIF played back "in the day" but I have to ask is it a viable format? The Ticket's revenue is down 40% and Cumulus is down 30%...so if you take the best and most popular station in your cluster and simulcast on Fm to compete against the other 2 FM sports stations and cut your cost (the Bone) more money for the Dickeys. Let's face it Cumulus is in trouble and they need the Ticket to get back to the top 5 billing status they have had last few years. Not going to happen with a Top 40 station

my guess:
simulcast of KLIF AM.

-no FM talk at this time other than sports-
-no personnel needed, a simple flip of a switch-
-KLIF AM could use the help-

This is VERY similar to what they did in Nashville this past July when they flipped WNFN "The Fan"... I believe they are still running jockless.

On July 29th, 2009, WNFN went "under construction", airing construction sounds saying that a new station in Nashville was being built and to check back at 1:06pm. There had been rumors that the station would flip to a religious format as "Praise 106" and a man in a deep voice would occasionally quickly say "Praise 106", after a female announcer would say "A new station for Nashville is coming soon!", however no "Praise 106" ever launched, and this was thought to only throw people off. On July 30, 2009 at 1:06pm CST the station launched a Top 40 (CHR) format as i106, and immediately after the launch, the old 106.7 The Fan website redirected to the new i106 website.

I have it on very good authority that it's going to be an All-Christmas format - everything from Bing Crosby to Paul McCartney. COOL!

P.S. I'm joking...

Well, I think it really sucks they did not give them enough time to grow.... Best station on in DFW.

I won Wilco tickets and have not picked them up. Does anyone know if I can still get them??

Now we know that it won't happened because I talked to Dan's assistant and she told me that the Ticket is staying where it's at.

Ok...guess I am wrong!

Just my 2 cents worth and I can speculate like everyone else here! ;D

Maybe it's gonna flip to Childrens and compete against Radio Disney!

If its not broke...don't fix it. The Ticket is doing well on 1310, why move it. My thinking is they will flip it to Top 40 to go after KHKS. I don't know how since they don't have the signal. God just please don't let it be an Urban AC.
