Format Change To KFRC SOON!

I'm pretty sure "Liner Guy" is Production Director and night-time jock Steve Moore, isn't it?

I wonder how he has time to produce all those liners and then sit behind a mike live from 7 to midnight every night? (ha, ha)

The image voice on Mix 106.5 in the South Bay sounds like him, too.

The "liner guy" on KFRC appears to be a major source of irritation. Aside from my own feelings (simple: get rid of them), I heard negative comments last week from three people who work at other stations, but who are also fans of KFRC in its current iteration.

In ye olden days, liners weren't positioning statements, they actually said something. I remember things like, "Stay tuned to win $1000 with the KFRC cash call jackpot; your turn in minutes". That kind of liner is fine. But positioner liners such as "Light rock, less talk" drive me absolutely up the wall.

KOIT is particularly irritating this way because the jock reads one or sometimes two liners live before the commercial break, then that annoying Liner Girl with the cloying voice repeats essentially the same thing for another 30 seconds. I understand that it would be stupid for Entercom to change the station in any major way - given that it's an 800 lb cash cow, but they haven't changed anything. It would be OK with me if they'd dump some of the more annoying formatting gimmicks left over from Bonneville. After so many years of the same thing over-and-over, a little change in imaging might actually make listeners happy.

S'cuse me, some terrifying liner guy just passing through...

During what started out being a thread for a different
station, the conversation seems to have drifted to the
station I most frequently visit these days.

In my raggedy career, I've been blessed with the
fascinating fate of working with a number of "number
one" stations.

Anyone who's been at the same profession for so long is
bound to connect a few dots, I'm no exception. I find
they usually have a good scope of what they're doing. The
top rankers think things through a lot --usually with
their listeners paramount-- before they put their
presentation on the air..

Just like seeing through the foreshadowing in a movie, and
reading the laziness in a cliche ridden book, you can hear
the radio stations that haven't been fleshed out.

BTW: saying things like this is what makes me so
terrifying to some of the people purported to be in charge
of some of our area's stations. I never hear from them
anymore. Hope I didn't frighten YOU.

And thanks for the KOIT plug. Not only Lite Rock, Less Jock--
It's your Official Christmas Music Station, ya know.

Yes, it is Steve Moore. I haven't heard the guy at Mix. Steve does have long days, producing voice track, err, his commercials and liners.

It's not so much the liners that bother. I was just wondering if it was different before this KFRC rebirth. As in, did they have them so often. Other stations I listed to, often have two songs in a row, but no more than two without a liner. I agree it's the content of the liners. I have heard their contest $1000 giveaways and the music is back. But the ones about their reality check, foot in mouth, getting old, those just don't fit.
